{"id":10422,"date":"2014-10-08T09:10:00","date_gmt":"2014-10-08T07:10:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/?p=10422"},"modified":"2014-10-14T14:35:48","modified_gmt":"2014-10-14T12:35:48","slug":"pernixdata-fvp-1-5-upgrade-2-0","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/pernixdata-fvp-1-5-upgrade-2-0\/","title":{"rendered":"PernixData FVP 1.5 upgrade to 2.0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"upgradefvp01\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/upgradefvp01.jpg\" alt=\"upgradefvp01\" width=\"602\" height=\"202\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The upgrade of PernixData FVP 1.5 to 2.0 is a pretty simple procedure but the correct steps should be followed to upgrade the system successfully.<\/p>\n<p>Read <a title=\"PernixData FVP 2.0 released\" href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/pernixdata-fvp-2-0-released\/\" target=\"_blank\">this post<\/a> to have an overview of the new features introduced with version 2.0.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Before upgrading FVP to version 2.0, it\u2019s necessary to <strong>set the environment<\/strong> to perform the correct upgrade process.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All VMs that are part of a PernixData FVP Flash Cluster must be <strong>transitioned to Write Through<\/strong> mode.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the PernixData FVP <strong>Host Extension Module<\/strong> to each host in the cluster.<\/li>\n<li>Shut down the vSphere Client.<\/li>\n<li>No VMs can be configured in Write Back mode until all hosts within the cluster have been upgraded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Upgrade PernixData FVP Management Server<\/h2>\n<p>Using the vSphere Web Client, access the FVP Cluster and check the <strong>Write Policy status<\/strong>. If the script is executed in the default location a warning message is shown since it must be executed in a different directory.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"upgradefvp14\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/upgradefvp14.jpg\" alt=\"upgradefvp14\" width=\"600\" height=\"162\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In case you receive the message \"Could not find a trusted signer.\" just add <strong>\"--no-sig-check<\/strong>\" to the end of the install command.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000a0;\"># esxcli software vib install -d \/tmp\/PernixData-host-extension-vSphere5.5.0_2.0.0.0-30662.zip --no-sig-check<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Backup the ESXi configuration<\/strong> to the boot device with the command:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000a0;\"># \/sbin\/auto-backup.sh<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; Manage Plug-ins<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"upgradefvp17\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/upgradefvp17.jpg\" alt=\"upgradefvp17\" width=\"519\" height=\"229\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Locate the <strong>PernixData FVP vSphere Client Plugin<\/strong> under <strong>Available Plug-ins<\/strong> section and click <strong>Download and Install<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none;
