VMware released the vSphere 6.0 Update 1 introducing new enhancements and bug fixes.<\/p>\n

Security (support for SSLv3 disabled, encryption for Kerberos authentication), stretched clusters and the introduction of HTML 5<\/strong> for the installer and the user interface are the main features introduced with this release.<\/p>\n

What's new<\/h2>\n

The\u00a0vSphere 6.0 Update 1\u00a0contains the following enhancements:<\/p>\n

ESXi<\/h4>\n

\u2022 vSphere APIs for I\/O Filtering<\/strong> (VAIO)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Exclusive affinity<\/strong> to additional system contexts associated with a low-latency VM introducing new VMX options:
\n- optionsched.cpu.latencySensitivity.sysContexts
\n- thesched.cpu.latencySensitivity.sysContexts
\n- optionsched.cpu.latencySensitivity.sysContexts<\/p>\n

\u2022 ESXi now only support AES256-CTS\/AES128-CTS\/RC4-HMAC encryption for Kerberos communication<\/strong> between ESXi and Active Directory<\/p>\n

\u2022 Support for SSLv3<\/strong> has been disabled by default<\/p>\n

\u2022 Virtual SAN 6.0 Update 1 now supports stretched clusters<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Suite UI<\/strong> is now enabled by default for the vSphere Web Client<\/p>\n

\u2022 Support for SSLv3<\/strong> has been disabled by default<\/p>\n

Before upgrading to vSphere 6.0 Update 1, read carefully the KB2124669<\/a> article.<\/p>\n

Upgrade the vCSA<\/h2>\n

Since vCenter Server Windows based can be updated simply running the installer, the vCSA appliance requires a different procedure<\/strong> to apply the patch. Full how-to can be found in this post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mount the Update 1 ISO file, SSH<\/strong> the vCSA and type the command:<\/p>\n

Command> software-packages install --iso<\/span><\/p>\n

Type yes<\/strong> then press Enter<\/strong> to apply the upgrade.<\/p>\n

Reboot<\/strong> the appliance with the command:<\/p>\n

After rebooting the appliance, the new build number is 6.0.0.10000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
