{"id":16287,"date":"2016-04-13T10:00:48","date_gmt":"2016-04-13T08:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/?p=16287"},"modified":"2023-07-16T11:24:59","modified_gmt":"2023-07-16T09:24:59","slug":"vsphere-6-0-error-unable-to-create-nfs-datastore-specified-key-name-or-identifier-already-exists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/vsphere-6-0-error-unable-to-create-nfs-datastore-specified-key-name-or-identifier-already-exists\/","title":{"rendered":"vSphere 6.0 error \"unable to create NFS datastore: specified key, name, or identifier already exists\""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16323 size-full\" title=\"esxierrornfs01\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/esxierrornfs01.jpg\" alt=\"esxierrornfs01\" width=\"602\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Trying\u00a0to add a new NFS datastore in vSphere, the system displays the error message \"Unable to create NFS datastore: specified key, name, or identifier already exists\".<\/p>\n<p>An NFS datastore mapped in a VMware cluster is not seen by some ESXi hosts and the attempt to map it\u00a0again causes the\u00a0error shown in the picture.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16324 size-full\" title=\"esxierrornfs02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/esxierrornfs02.jpg\" alt=\"esxierrornfs02\" width=\"290\" height=\"55\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Remove the datastore<\/h4>\n<p>To fix this matter, <strong>SSH the affected hosts<\/strong> and run the following command to list the\u00a0configured NFS datastores:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">#\u00a0esxcli storage nfs list<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16325 size-large\" title=\"esxierrornfs03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/esxierrornfs03-600x122.jpg\" alt=\"esxierrornfs03\" width=\"600\" height=\"122\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since the storage is configured in the selected host, you need to <strong>remove it<\/strong> with the command:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>esxcli storage nfs remove -v DatastoreName<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">#\u00a0esxcli storage nfs remove -v lab-nasts421.nolabnoparty.local<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16326 size-large\" title=\"esxierrornfs04\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/esxierrornfs04-600x137.jpg\" alt=\"esxierrornfs04\" width=\"600\" height=\"137\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Executing the command to list the <strong>attached NFS datastores<\/strong>, no datastores are\u00a0now detected.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"># esxcli storage nfs list<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16327 size-large\" title=\"esxierrornfs05\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/esxierrornfs05-600x153.jpg\" alt=\"esxierrornfs05\" width=\"600\" height=\"153\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Map the NFS datastore<\/h4>\n<p>Once removed, to map the NFS datastore once again run the command:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>esxcli storage nfs add -H NFS_IP_Hostname -s NFS_Share\u00a0-v DatastoreName<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"># esxcli storage nfs add -H lab-nasts421.nolabnoparty.local -s \/ts421_nfs01\u00a0-v ts421_nfs01<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16328 size-large\" title=\"esxierrornfs06\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/esxierrornfs06-600x181.jpg\" alt=\"esxierrornfs06\" width=\"600\" height=\"181\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Executing the command to list the attached NFS datastores, the configured\u00a0NFS\u00a0datastore is now listed.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"># esxcli storage nfs list<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16329 size-large\" title=\"esxierrornfs07\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/esxierrornfs07-600x293.jpg\" alt=\"esxierrornfs07\" width=\"600\" height=\"293\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Accessing the vSphere Web Client, go to <strong>Datastore &gt;
