Nakivo\u00a0Backup & Replication 6.0 is a complete backup solution you can deploy\u00a0as VA or installed on\u00a0Windows or Linux Servers in a\u00a0physical or virtual\u00a0environment.<\/p>\n
The product is configurable\u00a0through the web-based UI written in HTML<\/strong> making the UI fast and responsive.\u00a0The product comes with a built-in database<\/strong> and does not require to install agents on protected VMs or ESXi hosts. In addition, being a low resource consumption<\/strong> solution that\u00a0can be installed\u00a0on Linux OS, Nakivo\u00a0offers an interesting pricing\u00a0lower than the competition.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nakivo\u00a0Backup & Replication can be installed in\u00a0different platforms:<\/p>\n Nakivo is completely managed via\u00a0web console<\/strong> and requires\u00a0some components to fully function.<\/p>\n The Transporter<\/strong> component is responsible to perform the actual backup and\u00a0usually only one transporter per site is required.\u00a0Backups can be stored to a local or remote repository<\/strong> (CIFS or\u00a0NFS shares) or to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud. The Replication<\/strong> capability\u00a0allows to store critical VMs for a quick restore.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nakivo is available in six editions<\/strong> and supports all editions of VMware vSphere.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nakivo Backup & Replication can be installed on a virtual or physical machine<\/strong> with the following characteristics:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Latest version of Nakivo Backup and Replication offers some interesting features that assure a higher level of protection of your data.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The installation takes\u00a0only few minutes and you can access the web console typing in your favorite browser the address https:\/\/IP_address:4443<\/strong>. If Nakivo is deployed\u00a0as VA, you need to access the console to configure the system\u00a0parameters (i.e. IP address).<\/p>\n Access the Network Settings<\/strong>\u00a0configuration to specify the IP address of the VA.<\/p>\n First time you access the web console, you need to set the administrative credentials<\/strong> to\u00a0Log In<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Three components need to be configured<\/strong> before creating a backup job:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The ESXi hosts<\/strong> or the vCenter Server<\/strong>\u00a0of your infrastructure has to be added to the Inventory to access the VMs.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n A transporter is a service<\/strong> running on a Linux or Windows machine and performs actual backup<\/strong>, replication<\/strong>, and recovery tasks, as well as compression, deduplication, and encryption. The transporter is also responsible for backup repository interaction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nakivo\u00a0now supports NFS shares<\/strong> as backup repositories, previous versions only Windows CIFS shares could be used. By default a backup repository is created during installation and each repository must have an assigned\u00a0transporter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In General<\/strong> tab you can\u00a0configure SMTP and email\u00a0notifications<\/strong> as well as Branding Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In System Settings<\/strong> you can customize local date and time.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n VMware VM snapshots<\/strong> are used to create VM backups.\u00a0After the initial full backup, all consequent backups are forever-incremental<\/strong> and do not require running periodic full backup or replication.<\/p>\n The backup job is created from the Dashboard > Create<\/strong>\u00a0menu.<\/p>\n Select the VMs to backup.<\/p>\n Specify the Repository<\/strong> to store the backup files.<\/p>\n Specify a Schedule<\/strong> for the backup.<\/p>\n Assign a\u00a0Job name<\/strong> and set parameters like Application-Aware<\/strong>, CBT<\/strong> and the Retention<\/strong>.<\/p>\n An overview of\u00a0executed jobs is\u00a0displayed in\u00a0the Dashboard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n New version introduces\u00a0the Backup copy job<\/strong>\u00a0feature to create a copy<\/strong> of an existing backup from one repository to another in order\u00a0to have an additional copy in case of\u00a0a corrupted backup.\u00a0The Backup Copy\u00a0can be stored onsite<\/strong>, offsite<\/strong> and also in the Amazon cloud<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Statistics about\u00a0Copy backup job are available in the Dashboard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Replication creates and maintains copies of criticals\u00a0VMs<\/strong> on a target ESXi server recovering from a disaster simply by\u00a0powering on VM replicas.<\/p>\n To setup replication select VMware vSphere replication job<\/strong> option from the\u00a0Dashboard > Create<\/strong>\u00a0menu.<\/p>\n Specify the VMs to replicate and the target Container<\/strong> and Datastore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Define a Schedule<\/strong> and the parameters like Application-Aware<\/strong>, CBT<\/strong> and the\u00a0Retention<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The VMware replication job is being executed.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nakivo\u00a0Backup & Replication provides different options to restore data<\/strong> from backup:<\/p>\n VMs to recover\u00a0from a backup.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Nakivo is licensed per physical CPU socket<\/strong> for each server on which you backup or replicate VMs.\u00a0You do not need to license target servers<\/strong> for your replicas or servers on which you want to recover backed up VMs.\u00a0Check out Nakivo's pricing webpage<\/a> for additional details.<\/p>\n A\u00a015-day trial license<\/a> for 6 sockets is available for testing purposes.
