The user account used\u00a0must have certain Active Directory<strong> domain privileges<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>List Contents<\/li>\n<li>Read All Properties<\/li>\n<li>Write All Properties<\/li>\n<li>Read Permissions<\/li>\n<li>Reset Password<\/li>\n<li>Create Computer Objects<\/li>\n<li>Delete Computer Objects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To configure an Instant Clone Domain Administrator, from the View Administrator console under <strong>View Configuration &gt;\u00a0Instant Clone Domain Admins<\/strong> click <strong>Add<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18160 size-large\" title=\"istantclone14\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone14-600x499.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone14\" width=\"600\" height=\"499\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter <strong>User name<\/strong> and <strong>Password<\/strong> then click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18161 size-full\" title=\"istantclone15\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone15.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone15\" width=\"410\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Instant Clone Domain Administrator has been configured.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18162 size-large\" title=\"istantclone16\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone16-600x458.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone16\" width=\"600\" height=\"458\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Storage Accelerator<\/h2>\n<p>Another requirement is to enable the\u00a0<strong>View Storage Accelerator<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Under\u00a0<strong>View Configuration &gt; Servers<\/strong> select <strong>vCenter Servers<\/strong> tab, select the vCenter Server in use then click <strong>Edit<\/strong>. Select the <strong>Storage<\/strong> tab then make sure <strong>Enable View Storage Accelerator<\/strong>\u00a0option is checked. Click <strong>Next<\/strong> to continue.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18167 size-large\" title=\"istantclone21\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone21-600x468.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone21\" width=\"600\" height=\"468\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Desktop Pool Identification<\/strong> window follows the same rules as for a <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/vmware-horizon-6-part-5-setup-linked-clone-desktop\/\">Linked Clone Pool<\/a>. Enter the\u00a0<strong>ID<\/strong>, a <strong>Display name<\/strong>, the <strong>Access group<\/strong> and optionally a <strong>Description<\/strong>. Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18168 size-large\" title=\"istantclone22\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone22-600x468.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone22\" width=\"600\" height=\"468\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enable <strong>HTML Access<\/strong> option to\u00a0allow users to connect to View machines from web browsers. View Client software does not have to be installed on the client devices. Access\u00a0the\u00a0vSphere Web Client to set the <strong>correct HW version<\/strong> for the VM used.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18183 size-full\" title=\"istantclone37\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone37.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone37\" width=\"400\" height=\"174\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the creation of the configured\u00a0Instant Clone Desktop Pool,<strong> several folders<\/strong>\u00a0have been\u00a0created in the\u00a0<strong>VMs and Template view<\/strong> of the vSphere Web Client:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>ClonePrepInternalTemplateFolder<\/strong> -\u00a0<em>cp-template-xxx<\/em> is the template VM created from master image that is used to create the\u00a0Instant Clones.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ClonePrepParentVmFolder<\/strong> -\u00a0<em>cp-parent-xxx<\/em>\u00a0the VMs in this folder should match the number of hosts in your cluster (two in this example). Each ESXi server has one\u00a0powered on and in memory to create the Instant Clone VMs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ClonePrepReplicaVmFolder<\/strong> -\u00a0<em>cp-replica-xxx<\/em>\u00a0is the VM used to create the cp-parent VMs. It is used to provision additional cp-parent VMs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>ClonePrepResyncVmFolder<\/strong> - if you update the clones using\u00a0a new image, a VM is created in this folder for staging.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18184 size-large\" title=\"istantclone38\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone38-600x408.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone38\" width=\"600\" height=\"408\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Entitle the users<\/h4>\n<p>Under <strong>Catalog &gt; Desktop Pools<\/strong>, click <strong>Entitlements<\/strong> button and select <strong>Add entitlement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18185 size-large\" title=\"istantclone39\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone39-600x264.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone39\" width=\"600\" height=\"264\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>Add<\/strong> button, select the group\/user to entitle then click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18186 size-large\" title=\"istantclone40\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone40-600x477.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone40\" width=\"600\" height=\"477\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to close the window.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18187 size-full\" title=\"istantclone41\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone41.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone41\" width=\"500\" height=\"450\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Check provisioned VMs<\/h4>\n<p>Under <strong>Resources &gt; Machines<\/strong>\u00a0select vCenter VMs tab to check the provisioned\u00a0VMs.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18188 size-large\" title=\"istantclone42\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/istantclone42-600x272.jpg\" alt=\"istantclone42\" width=\"600\" height=\"272\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Update the Instant Clone Image<\/h2>\n<p>When the master image needs to be updated, it must be pushed to the pool of desktops. To update the parent virtual desktop, you need to perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>power on the parent virtual desktop<\/li>\n<li>make required changes<\/li>\n<li>take a snapshot<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once the new snapshot has been completed, from <strong>Catalog &gt; Desktop Pools<\/strong> double click\u00a0the Desktop Pool to update.
