{"id":18246,"date":"2016-09-01T09:00:29","date_gmt":"2016-09-01T07:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/?p=18246"},"modified":"2020-03-15T18:09:53","modified_gmt":"2020-03-15T17:09:53","slug":"veeam-next-big-thing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/veeam-next-big-thing\/","title":{"rendered":"Veeam Next Big Thing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18250 size-full\" title=\"veeamnextbigthing01\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/veeamnextbigthing01.jpg\" alt=\"veeamnextbigthing01\" width=\"602\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last week Veeam announced\u00a0a series of new <strong>products and tools<\/strong>\u00a0available\u00a0later this year that will extend its backup and restore capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Lot of the new features announced will\u00a0ensure a stronger <strong>data protection and availability<\/strong> regardless where the data actually resides.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18251 size-large\" title=\"veeamnextbigthing02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/veeamnextbigthing02-600x338.jpg\" alt=\"veeamnextbigthing02\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Main features announced<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365<\/strong>: Veeam added the capability to\u00a0backup Office 365 mailboxes mitigating the risks of loosing access to the\u00a0email data and ensuring availability to the\u00a0users.\u00a0Backups will be written to a new repository type known as Office 365 Repository.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18252 size-large\" title=\"veeamnextbigthing03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/veeamnextbigthing03-600x338.jpg\" alt=\"veeamnextbigthing03\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><br \/>\n<strong>Advanced ReFS Integration<\/strong>: file system introduced with Windows 2012 aimed to replace NTFS, it allows better performance and capacity efficiency. Deduplication is not currently available under ReFS.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18253 size-large\" title=\"veeamnextbigthing04\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/veeamnextbigthing04-600x338.jpg\" alt=\"veeamnextbigthing04\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Veeam Agents<\/strong>:\u00a0Veeam is currently offering\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/veeam-endpoint-backup-free-1-5-is-ga\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Veeam Endpoint Backup client for Windows<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/veeam-agent-linux-setup\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Veeam Agent for Linux<\/a> (currently in beta but available in November 2016) to backup physical machines.\u00a0Endpoint has been renamed to Veeam Agent for Windows and should be available on\u00a0December 2016.<\/p>\n<p>Three new versions of Agent will be available:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Free<\/li>\n<li>Workstation<\/li>\n<li>Server<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18254 size-large\" title=\"veeamnextbigthing05\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/veeamnextbigthing05-600x330.jpg\" alt=\"veeamnextbigthing05\" width=\"600\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Main features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Direct restore to Azure<\/strong>: a previously backed up machine\u00a0can be restored directly to Azure<\/li>\n<li><strong>Integration with Veeam Cloud Connect<\/strong> - it's now possible to direct backup from clients and servers to\u00a0Cloud Connect repositories<\/li>\n<li><strong>Backup cache for remote targets<\/strong>: in case you can't backup to the repository, a local cache will be written and\u00a0synced\u00a0to the repository when possible<\/li>\n<li><strong>Veeam Agent for Linux<\/strong>: not available in the public beta, it\u00a0will be introduced the integration with Veeam Repositories<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Veeam Availability Console<\/strong>: a\u00a0cloud-enabled platform for Service Providers and Enterprises to manage Veeam products from a single pane of glass.\u00a0Expected to be released Q1 2017.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-18258 size-large\" title=\"veeamnextbigthing06\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/veeamnextbigthing06-600x337.jpg\" alt=\"veeamnextbigthing06\" width=\"600\" height=\"337\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Veeam Availability Orchestrator<\/strong>: it allows\u00a0to create defined plans for backups and replications performing an automated non disruptive testing to verify everything works as expected.
