The Hyper-V capability uses the <strong>same easy and clean web interface<\/strong> that drives the user during the backup configuration.<\/p>\n<p>Nakivo 7\u00a0provides <strong>image-based<\/strong>, <strong>application-aware<\/strong>, and <strong>forever-incremental<\/strong> Hyper-V backup. Backups are automatically <strong>compressed and deduplicated<\/strong> to save space in the backup repositories and backup copies can be\u00a0<strong>sent offsite<\/strong> to AWS and Azure clouds.<\/p>\n<p>You\u00a0can instantly <strong>recover files<\/strong>, <strong>Exchange objects<\/strong>, and <strong>Active Directory objects<\/strong> directly from compressed and deduplicated Hyper-V backups.<\/p>\n<p>Additional features:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"listed halfs\">\n<li>Agentless, image-based backup of live Hyper-V VMs<\/li>\n<li>Up to 1,000 GFS recovery points per VM backup<\/li>\n<li>Full VM recovery to the same or a new host<\/li>\n<li>Automated backup verification<\/li>\n<li>Support for Hyper-V Cluster Shared Volumes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Create a Hyper-V backup job<\/h4>\n<p>Before creating \u00a0a backup job, the host has to be <strong>added to the Inventory<\/strong> first.\u00a0From Nakivo Dashboard click on <strong>settings icon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20671 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew02-600x161.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew02\" width=\"600\" height=\"161\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Go to <strong>Inventory<\/strong> tab and click on\u00a0<strong>Add New...<\/strong> button then select <strong>Micorsoft Hyper-V host<\/strong>\u00a0option.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20672 size-full\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew03.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew03\" width=\"538\" height=\"263\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter the required information then click <strong>Add<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20673 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew04\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew04-600x243.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew04\" width=\"600\" height=\"243\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Hyper-V host has been added successfully.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20674 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew05\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew05-600x451.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew05\" width=\"600\" height=\"451\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To configure the backup job, from the Dashboard menu select <strong>Create &gt; Microsoft Hyper-V backup job<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20675 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew06\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew06-600x364.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew06\" width=\"600\" height=\"364\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the VMs to backup and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20676 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew07\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew07-600x408.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew07\" width=\"600\" height=\"408\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After specifying the <strong>Destination<\/strong>, <strong>Schedule<\/strong> and <strong>Retention<\/strong>, enter the\u00a0<strong>Job name<\/strong>. To use the <strong>Change tracking<\/strong>\u00a0functionality in Hyper-V, Nakivo uses a proprietary driver. From the drop-down menu select <strong>Use proprietary method<\/strong> option and click <strong>Finish<\/strong> to save the job setup.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20677 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew08\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew08-600x228.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew08\" width=\"600\" height=\"228\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0backup job is executed in the same way as VMware backup jobs do.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20678 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew09\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew09-600x357.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew09\" width=\"600\" height=\"357\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Hyper-V backup has been completed successfully.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20679 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew10\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew10-600x238.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew10\" width=\"600\" height=\"238\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Support for vSphere 6.5<\/h2>\n<p>Backup &amp; Replication 7.0 now supports the latest VMware vSphere 6.5 release. The new vCenter\/ESXi must be <strong>added to the Inventory<\/strong> before configuring the backup job.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20681 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew11\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew11-600x290.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew11\" width=\"600\" height=\"290\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The procedure to configure the backup job is the same as the previous release.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20682 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew12\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew12-600x405.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew12\" width=\"600\" height=\"405\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With\u00a0Nakivo 7.0, VMware 6.5 VMs can now be backed up successfully.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20683 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew13\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew13-600x441.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew13\" width=\"600\" height=\"441\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The new version allows to backup, replicate, and recover VMware vSphere v6.5 VMs without <strong>any extra setup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Active Directory integration<\/h2>\n<p>Nakivo now support Microsoft Active Directory integration to <strong>better manage the access<\/strong> to the backup infrastructure following the company\u2019s security policy.<\/p>\n<p>To enable AD integration, from the Dashboard click on the\u00a0<strong>settings icon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20684 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew14\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew14-600x161.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew14\" width=\"600\" height=\"161\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Go to <strong>General<\/strong> tab and click <strong>Edit<\/strong> in the rigth side of\u00a0<strong>User accounts<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20685 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew15\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew15-600x152.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew15\" width=\"600\" height=\"152\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>AD integration<\/strong> field, select <strong>Enabled<\/strong> from the drop-down menu.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20686 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew16\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew16-600x457.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew16\" width=\"600\" height=\"457\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Create a group for Nakivo's admins in Active Directory and enter the required information under <strong>Active Directory Information<\/strong> area. Click <strong>Test Integration<\/strong>\u00a0to test AD connectivity.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20687 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew17\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew17-600x559.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew17\" width=\"600\" height=\"559\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter an AD account member of the group previously configured (i.e. G_NakivoAdmins) and click <strong>Test<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20688 size-full\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew18\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew18.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew18\" width=\"410\" height=\"349\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When the AD connection\u00a0succeed, click <strong>Apply<\/strong> to save the configuration.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20689 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew19\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew19-600x199.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew19\" width=\"600\" height=\"199\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>AD Integration<\/strong> is now <strong>Enabled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20690 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew20\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew20-600x332.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew20\" width=\"600\" height=\"332\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Now you can <strong>Log In<\/strong>\u00a0using your AD account.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20692 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew21\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew21-600x284.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew21\" width=\"600\" height=\"284\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Skip Swap File and Partitions<\/h2>\n<p>The backup of a VM included so far also the swap file since it changes constantly consuming lot of space in the backup repository\u00a0and making the backup time longer.<\/p>\n<p>Version 7.0 provides the capability to automatically skip the <strong>swap files on Windows OS<\/strong> and <strong>swap partitions on Linux OS<\/strong> VMs <strong>speeding up data transfer and saving space<\/strong> in the backup repository.<\/p>\n<p>From the Dashboard click on the\u00a0<strong>setting icon<\/strong> and access the <strong>General<\/strong> tab. The amount of data now processed is less allowing to save some storage space.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20699 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew26\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew26-600x495.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew26\" width=\"600\" height=\"495\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Bulk backup delete<\/h2>\n<p>Backups <strong>no longer needed<\/strong>\u00a0can be now easily deleted saving space in the backup repository. You can <strong>filter outdated and orphaned<\/strong> backups and delete them in a <strong>single click<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>From the Dashboard click on the <strong>settings icon<\/strong> to access the configuration area.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20700 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew27\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew27-600x283.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew27\" width=\"600\" height=\"283\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>Manage<\/strong> in the repository to process and select the <strong>Delete backups in bulk<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-20701 size-large\" title=\"nakivo7whatsnew28\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/nakivo7whatsnew28-600x324.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo7whatsnew28\" width=\"600\" height=\"324\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the items to delete and click <strong>Next<\/strong>. All Nakivo's activities (running jobs, file and object recovery sessions, repository maintenance, and so on) are displayed in a single place to have a <strong>better overview<\/strong> of what's going on in the product.<\/p>\n<p>From the Dashboard click the<strong> two arrows icon<\/strong> to access the activities page.
