Replication is an additional feature available in Vembu VMBackup that provides a\u00a0higher level of business continuity<\/strong> reducing the service downtime.<\/p>\n VM replication allows to replicate VMs from a source host to a\u00a0target ESXi in DR location without affecting<\/strong>\u00a0the performance and the routine tasks of the primary server.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Vembu BDR Suite 3.7 overview and setup \u2013 pt.1<\/a> <\/p>\n VM replication is recommended for business critical VMs<\/strong> where the replication occurs on a regular basis.<\/p>\n From the Dashboard's menu select VM Replication > VMware vSphere<\/strong> item.<\/p>\n In the source ESXi\/vCenter click VM Replication<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Select the VMs to replicate and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Configure the Scheduling<\/strong> for replication based on requirement<\/span> and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n To make application-consistent<\/strong> replication (SQL Server and Exchange<\/span>\u00a0servers), enable Application Aware Process<\/strong> option and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Specify the Target Replication Host<\/strong>\u00a0then click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Enable Configure Networks<\/strong> if\u00a0different networks<\/strong> are used in the production site and\u00a0DR site. Specify Source Network<\/strong> and Target Network<\/strong> then click Next<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n Enable Network Re-IP Mapping<\/strong> option if the\u00a0IP addressing scheme<\/strong> in the production site differs from that in the DR site scheme.\u00a0Re-IP Mapping rule will be applied during Failover<\/strong>.\u00a0Click Add Rule<\/strong> to create a new rule.<\/span><\/p>\n Specify the\u00a0required details then click Save<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n Once the new rule has been created, the name is displayed in the configuration area. Click Next<\/strong> to continue. Enter the Job Name<\/strong> and review the configuration then click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Click OK<\/strong> to confirm.<\/p>\n The Replication job is executed displaying the Replication Progress Details<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The replication has been completed successfully.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n From the Dashboard's menu select VM Replication > VMware vSphere<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Choose\u00a0the Replication job to process and click the Restore icon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Proceeding with Restore option, three types of restores are available to choose from:<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Failover allows the administrators to switch the functionality<\/strong> from the original VM to its replica on the target host.<\/p>\n Select Failover<\/strong> option as restore type and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Specify the Restore version<\/strong> and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Choose the VM replica to restore and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Click Next<\/strong> to perform Failover.<\/p>\n Click OK<\/strong> to confirm.<\/p>\n Failover of the selected VM is being executed.<\/p>\n When the operation\u00a0completes successfully, the replicated VM in target host<\/strong>\u00a0is active\u00a0and running.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n When a VM has been failovered, administrators can decide the finalizing Failover<\/strong> operation to perform by choosing between following operations:<\/p>\n Select Finalize Failover<\/strong> option as restore type and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Select the VM replica to process and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Three finalize types are available:<\/span><\/p>\n Select Undo Failover<\/strong> and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In the review page click Next<\/strong> to proceed with the selected operation.<\/p>\n Changes occurred in the replicated\u00a0VM are discarded\u00a0and the VM is reverted to its\u00a0pre-failover state.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Selecting Permanent Failover<\/strong> option, the system makes the replica VM as the source VM permanently<\/strong>. Click Next<\/strong>\u00a0to proceed.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Select\u00a0Failback<\/strong>\u00a0option as Finalize Type to recover the VM to the source host or another host as production VM<\/strong>.\u00a0This option is enabled only when Failback as Finalize type in\u00a0Finalize Failover (Restore type).<\/span> Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Specify the Failback Options<\/strong> and click Next<\/strong> to proceed with recover.<\/p>\n Check the configuration in the Review<\/strong> page and click Next<\/strong> to start the Failback process.<\/p>\n Click OK<\/strong> to confirm.<\/p>\n The Restore Progress<\/strong> page shows the details of the VM processed.<\/p>\n The Failback operation has been completed successfully.<\/p>\n From the VMware vSphere Web Client you can see the processed VM up and running in the specified host.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n VMBackup provides also options of sending the backup data offsite<\/strong>\u00a0(data center or Vembu Cloud) for data redundancy and disaster recovery increasing\u00a0security and data integrity<\/strong>.<\/p>\n From the Dashboard's main menu select Management > Offsite Copy Management<\/strong>.<\/p>\n To store backups offsite, you need to enable the Offsite Copy<\/strong> option from the management page.\u00a0Before enabling Offsite copy, user need to <\/span>register Vembu BDR server<\/strong>, from Management > Server Management<\/strong>\u00a0menu, to their\u00a0Vembu Portal account<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n Offsite Copy mode<\/strong> allows the administrators to specify if a personal data center or Vembu cloud will be used to store backups.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Vembu CloudDR is a cloud based disaster recovery server that maintains an offsite copy of backup server data.<\/p>\n Select Vembu Cloud<\/strong> option and specify\u00a0Window<\/strong>, Retention<\/strong> and Bandwidth<\/strong> settings. Click Save Replication Settings<\/strong> button to save the configuration.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This option allows the administrators to replicate backup data to personal data\u00a0center<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n Select My Own Datacenter<\/strong> option and specify\u00a0Window<\/strong>, Retention<\/strong> and Bandwidth<\/strong> settings.
