Runecast Analyzer<\/a>, a proactive issue prevention solution for VMware vSphere, can be integrated in vCenter Server using a plugin provided by the software.<\/p>\n

The plugin is very useful for having at first sight the healthy status of your virtual infrastructure components directly from the vCenter Server<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Generate the API access token<\/h2>\n

Login Runecast Analyzer by entering the correct credentials then click Login<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

From the Dashboard, click on Setting<\/strong> icon to access the software configuration.<\/p>\n

From the Setting<\/strong> section, go to vCenter Connection<\/strong> tab and click\u00a0Edit<\/strong> button to install the plugin in the selected vCenter Server. Select\u00a0Install Plugin<\/strong> option to proceed.<\/p>\n

Click Install<\/strong> to proceed with the plugin installation. The process takes only few seconds.<\/p>\n

When the plugin has been installed successfully, you receive a notification from the installation window. Click Close<\/strong> to exit the wizard.<\/p>\n

Now go to\u00a0API Access tokens<\/strong> tab and click Generate API access token<\/strong> to create the token to be entered in the vCenter Server plugin configuration.<\/p>\n

Enter a Description<\/strong> and click Generate<\/strong>\u00a0to create the token.<\/p>\n

When the token has been generated, click copy token<\/strong> link and write down the number somewhere since the number won't be showed again once the window is closed. Make sure the number has been noted then click I understand<\/strong>\u00a0button to close the window.<\/p>\n

The token has been created and it is now listed in the table.<\/p>\n

Configure Runecast plugin in vCenter Server<\/h2>\n

When the API access token has been generated, login to vCenter Server through the vSphere Web Client. Enter the correct credentials and click Login<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click Home<\/strong> menu and select Administration<\/strong>\u00a0option. You may notice there is a Runecast icon already in the list.<\/p>\n

In the Administration<\/strong> area, select Settings<\/strong>\u00a0item under Runecast Software-Defined Expertise<\/strong>. Specify the FQDN of the Runecast Appliance<\/strong> and enter the API Access Token<\/strong>. The system automatically tries to establish a connection with the Runecast appliance.<\/p>\n

A message confirms the successfully connection to the appliance. The plugin configuration is now complete.<\/p>\n

Now select Home<\/strong> from menu and select Runecast<\/strong>. From this area you can click\u00a0Perform a scan<\/strong> to analyze the selected vCenter Server.<\/p>\n

From the Inventory view<\/strong> of the vCenter Server, select any object level (datacenter, cluster, host, or VM) and go to Summary<\/strong> tab. Here you find the Runecast Software-Defined Expertise<\/strong> widget. Click the link Click to view content<\/strong> to display detected issues for the selected object.<\/p>\n

To have details of detected issues for any Host, VM, port group, go to Monitor<\/strong> tab and select Runecast Issues<\/strong>. You will get a full list of issues for the object and links to relevant KB<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Once you are aware of potential issues in your infrastructure, from the Runecast Analyzer appliance you can get additional details<\/strong> about the problems and fix them accordingly.<\/p>\n
