packages\u00a0<\/em><em>from\u00a0<\/em><em>patch source<\/em>\" is displayed in the <strong>Recent Tasks<\/strong> area.<\/p>\n<p>This error <strong>stops the remediation procedure<\/strong>\u00a0skipping the patching process of the selected ESXi hosts.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23771 size-large\" title=\"vum-cannot-download-packages-patch-source-error-02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/vum-cannot-download-packages-patch-source-error-02-600x139.jpg\" alt=\"vum-cannot-download-packages-patch-source-error-02\" width=\"600\" height=\"139\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This situation occours in the event that <strong>VMware has recalled a patch<\/strong> and you are using VMware vSphere Update Manager for patch installation and compliance verification.<\/p>\n<p>You can face <strong>four scenarios<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You have <strong>remediated<\/strong> the recalled patch<\/li>\n<li>You have <strong>downloaded and staged<\/strong> the recalled patch, but have <strong>not remediated<\/strong> the patch<\/li>\n<li>You have <strong>downloaded<\/strong> the recalled patch definition, but have <strong>not staged or remediated<\/strong> the patch<\/li>\n<li>Your patch definitions were <strong>downloaded prior to the release<\/strong> of the recalled patch<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How to quickly remediate ESXi hosts<\/h2>\n<p>If the <strong>latest patch definitions<\/strong> haven't been updated yet and you need to quickly apply available patches, the following procedure allows to update hosts in few minutes.<\/p>\n<p>After selecting from the <strong>Inventory<\/strong> view the vSphere object (vCenter, datacenter, cluster)\u00a0that contains the ESXi hosts to patch, from the\u00a0<strong>Update Manager<\/strong> tab click <strong>Remediate<\/strong>\u00a0to install the patch immediately.<\/p>\n<p><img <em>ESXi550-201801401-BG<\/em> to fix <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/vmware-new-security-patch-vcenter-server-6-5-u1f\/\">Meltdown and Spectre<\/a> issues have been recalled by VMware and
