Extract the files from the ZIP file.<\/p>\n<p>Open the VMware Sphere Web Client, right click the cluster object from the <strong>Inventory<\/strong> and select <strong>Deploy OVF Template<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23919 size-large\" title=\"starwind-web-management-03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-03-600x403.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-03\" width=\"600\" height=\"403\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>Browse<\/strong> to select the two files extracted from the downloaded ZIP file. Before powering on the Gateway VM, the creation of a <strong>DHCP reservation<\/strong> is recommended to assign a static IP address to the appliance to simplify the connection. Make sure you configure also a <strong>DNS resolving<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Creating a DHCP reservation<\/h4>\n<p>To create a DHCP reservation, we need to <strong>get the MAC address<\/strong> of the appliance's NIC. From the vSphere Web Client right click the virtual machine and select <strong>Edit Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23929 size-large\" title=\"starwind-web-management-13\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-13-600x566.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-13\" width=\"600\" height=\"566\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From <strong>Virtual Hardware<\/strong> tab, expand <strong>Network Adapter 1<\/strong> and write down the <strong>MAC Address<\/strong> value.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23930 size-large\" title=\"starwind-web-management-14\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-14-600x624.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-14\" width=\"600\" height=\"624\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Access the configuration of your <strong>DHCP Server<\/strong> (Windows version in the example) and create a <strong>New Reservation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23931 size-full\" title=\"starwind-web-management-15\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-15.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-15\" width=\"530\" height=\"346\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter a <strong>Reservation name<\/strong>, the <strong>IP address<\/strong> to assign and the <strong>MAC address<\/strong>\u00a0of the StarWind appliance's NIC. Click <strong>Add<\/strong> when done.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23937 size-full\" title=\"starwind-web-management-16\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-16.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-16\" width=\"358\" height=\"345\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The DHCP reservation has been created.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23938 size-full\" title=\"starwind-web-management-17\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-17.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-17\" width=\"512\" height=\"344\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Creating a DNS entry<\/h4>\n<p>Now access the configuration of your <strong>DNS Server<\/strong> (Windows version in the example) and create a\u00a0<strong>New Host<\/strong>\u00a0(A record). Enter the <strong>Name<\/strong> and the <strong>IP address<\/strong> then click <strong>Add Host<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23939 size-large\" title=\"starwind-web-management-18\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-18-600x404.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-18\" width=\"600\" height=\"404\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Configure the StarWind Gateway VM<\/h2>\n<p>When the DHCP reservation and DNS entry have been configured, <strong>power on the VM<\/strong>. Right click the VM and select <strong>Power &gt; Power On<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23940 size-large\" title=\"starwind-web-management-19\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-19-600x476.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-19\" width=\"600\" height=\"476\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Check if the assigned IP Address reported in the vSphere Web Client\u00a0<strong>matches your DHCP configuration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23941 size-large\" title=\"starwind-web-management-20\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-20-600x218.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-20\" width=\"600\" height=\"218\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From your favorite browser and enter the DNS name of the appliance to open the StarWind Management Web Console. Enter the <strong>default credentials <\/strong>and click <strong>Login<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Username: <strong>starwind<\/strong><br \/>\nPassword: <strong>starwind<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23942 size-full\" title=\"starwind-web-management-21\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-21.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-21\" width=\"521\" height=\"497\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The system establishes the connection with the appliance.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-23943 size-full\" title=\"starwind-web-management-22\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/starwind-web-management-22.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-web-management-22\" width=\"482\" height=\"95\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Press <strong>ALT+CTRL+SHIFT<\/strong> combination to access the Settings pop up menu.
