{"id":24872,"date":"2018-07-03T09:00:04","date_gmt":"2018-07-03T07:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/?p=24872"},"modified":"2018-07-03T08:23:19","modified_gmt":"2018-07-03T06:23:19","slug":"runecast-analyzer-1-8-with-nsx-v-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/runecast-analyzer-1-8-with-nsx-v-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Runecast Analyzer 1.8 with NSX-V support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24936 size-full\" title=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-01\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-01.jpg\" alt=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-01\" width=\"602\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Runecast, the proactive monitor solution to check and keep the vSphere environment healthy, released the new\u00a0Runecast Analyzer 1.8 version with the introduction of the <strong>NSX-V support<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/runecast-analyzer-1-7-vsan-support\/\">vSAN support<\/a>\u00a0introduced in version 1.7, Runecast made another big step extending its capability to detect possible issues also for NSX-V.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>What's new\u00a0in Runecast Analyzer 1.8<\/h2>\n<p>The biggest feature introduced in version 1.8 is the support for NSX-V.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Runecast 1.8 is now able to detect NSX issues on VMware NSX-V versions 6.2 - 6.4.x<\/li>\n<li>Automated scan and evaluation of the NSX-V Best Practices violations<\/li>\n<li>Automatic NSX-V VMware Security Hardening profile analysis and reporting<\/li>\n<li>NSX-V DISA-STIG profile analysis and reporting<\/li>\n<li>Automatic discovery of the NSX Managers linked to VMware vCenters<\/li>\n<li>Web-console performance improvements for bigger environments<\/li>\n<li>vSphere web console Runecast plugin NSX update with a new issue summary widget<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Upgrade to version 1.8<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/runecast-analyzer-1-7-3-new-kb-update-mechanism\/\">upgrade procedure<\/a> did remain the same and it is very simple. Access the\u00a0<strong>Admin Runecast appliance<\/strong>\u00a0by entering in your preferred browser the address <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">https:\/\/IP_appliance:5480<\/span>. At the login page type the following default credentials then click <strong>Login<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>User name<\/strong>: rcadmin<br \/>\n<strong>Password<\/strong>: admin<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24937 size-large\" title=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-02-600x164.jpg\" alt=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-02\" width=\"600\" height=\"164\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Got to <strong>Update<\/strong> tab and, if a new update is availabile, click on\u00a0<strong>Install Updates<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24938 size-large\" title=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-03-600x231.jpg\" alt=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-03\" width=\"600\" height=\"231\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to confirm the update.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24939 size-full\" title=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-04\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-04.jpg\" alt=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-04\" width=\"268\" height=\"120\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The update is being installed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24940 size-full\" title=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-05\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-05.jpg\" alt=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-05\" width=\"346\" height=\"100\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After few seconds, the appliance is updated to version 1.8.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24941 size-large\" title=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-06\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-06-600x202.jpg\" alt=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-06\" width=\"600\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Configure NSX in Runecast Analyzer<\/h2>\n<p>After upgrading Runecast\u00a0Analyzer, login to the appliance by entering the correct credentials (default credentials are <em>rcuser\/Runecast!<\/em>) then click <strong>Login<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24944 size-full\" title=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-07\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-07.jpg\" alt=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-07\" width=\"581\" height=\"416\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the configuration settings page, click <strong>Add vCenter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24945 size-large\" title=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-08\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-08-600x339.jpg\" alt=\"runecast-analyzer-nsx-support-08\" width=\"600\" height=\"339\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>Add vCenter<\/strong> wizard, after specifying the vCenter, a\u00a0new\u00a0<strong>NSX connection<\/strong> tab has been added. You have to <strong>specify the NSX Manager<\/strong> associated to the entered vCenter Server. The account used to access the NSX Manager must have at least <strong>Read permission<\/strong>.
