Veeam released the new\u00a0Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5<\/a> Update 3a introducing some enhancements, such as the support for VMware vSphere 6.7, and bug fixes.<\/p>\n After the release of latest VMware vSphere 6.7<\/a> version, most backup software vendors are introducing the support for the new vSphere release in their backup solutions. Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5<\/a> Update 3a introduces also some performance improvements concerning DirectSAN<\/strong>\u00a0and Hot Add<\/strong>\u00a0transport modes as well as\u00a0the support for some platforms.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The new Update 3a introduces the following most significant enhancements:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The support for VMware vSphere 6.7 is the main feature added to this new release and includes also the new Veeam HTML5 plugin<\/strong> version for vSphere Web Client. Added the asynchronous NBD\/NBDSSL support<\/strong> for improved read performance of network transport mode with ESXi 6.7.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The support for the following platforms have been introduced in Veeam Backup and Replication 9.5<\/a> Update 3a as reported in the Release Notes:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Update 3a introduces the support for Direct Restore to\u00a0Microsoft Azure<\/a>\u00a0for environments with ExpressRoute<\/strong> or site-to-site VPN connectivity<\/strong> to Azure. To enable this feature, you have to create in the Windows Registry the following entry:<\/p>\n Key type<\/strong>: DWORD <\/p>\n Added the suport for Btrfs volumes<\/strong> located on an LVM volume and for Linux SUID and SGID<\/strong> preservation to Copy To<\/em> operation.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Performance of enumeration in File to Tape jobs<\/strong> with a large number of files has been improved.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n To improve security, with the Update 3a the\u00a0application-aware processing logic<\/strong>\u00a0now requires the\u00a0logon as batch job<\/strong>\u00a0rights\u00a0(instead of interactive logon) configured for the account\u00a0used to connect to SQL Server to perform transaction logs processing. This change requires to disable the\u00a0Deny log on as a batch job<\/strong>\u00a0for the used account (previously\u00a0the\u00a0Deny log on locally<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Deny log on through Terminal Services<\/strong>\u00a0permissions were turned off).<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Before proceeding with the update, make sure you are running version<\/strong> 9.5.0.580, 9.5.0.711, 9.5.0.802, 9.5.0.823, 9.5.0.1038, 9.5.0.1335 or 9.5.0.1536.\u00a0You can check current installed version\u00a0under\u00a0Help > About<\/b> menu.<\/p>\n To proceed with the update, disable all active processes\u00a0run the Update 3a installer downloaded from\u00a0Veeam website<\/a>. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Enable Update remote components automatically<\/strong> option then click Install<\/strong>\u00a0to proceed with the update installation.<\/p>\n The update is being installed in the system.<\/p>\n When the update process has been completed successfully, click Finish<\/strong> to exit the wizard.<\/p>\n Open the Veeam console and go to Help > About<\/strong> to verify the installed version.<\/p>\n After upgrading, the build number is 9.5.0.1922<\/strong>.<\/p>\n When the Veeam console installed on administrator's computers is launched, the system detects the new version.
