When attempting to upload any files to a datastore in the\u00a0VMware vSphere<\/a>\u00a0infrastructure, you get an error when uploading files to datastores and the operation is not completed and fails.<\/p>\n

To find out the cause of the error, you can click on\u00a0Details<\/strong> to get additonal information.<\/p>\n

Looking at the error details, the reason of the problem is due to an untrusted certificate<\/strong> used by the browser.<\/p>\n

Looking at the browser, the vCenter Server URL is marked as\u00a0Not Secure<\/strong>. The failure is due to an untrusted certificate used to connect the vCenter Server<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fix uploading files to datastores issue<\/h2>\n

To fix this error, open your favorite browser and enter the address of your vCenter Server<\/a> without specifying any client<\/strong>\u00a0(flash or HTML) to use, such as https:\/\/vCenter_address<\/span>. Click the Download trusted root CA certificates<\/strong> link in the right side.<\/p>\n

A .ZIP file is downloaded<\/strong> in your local computer. Access the .ZIP file<\/strong> folder location\u00a0to extract the certificates.<\/p>\n

Unzip the downloaded file to a folder of your computer. Three folders are extracted for the supported OSs: lin, mac, win<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Right click the Windows menu icon and select Run<\/strong>. Enter mmc<\/strong> and press Enter<\/strong>\u00a0to open the Management Console.<\/p>\n

Select File > Add\/remove Snap-in<\/strong> from the menu.<\/p>\n

Select Certificates<\/strong> item then click Add<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Select the Computer account<\/strong> option then click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The Certificates (Local Computer)<\/strong> snap-in is created under Console Root<\/strong>. Select the new created item and click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Expand Certificates (Local Computer)<\/strong> and Trusted Root Certification Authorities<\/strong> items then right click Certificates<\/strong>. Select All-Tasks > Import<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click Browse<\/strong> and access the appropriate folder<\/strong>\u00a0(lin, mac, or win) previously extracted from the ZIP file based on the used OS. Select the\u00a0.CRT file<\/strong> and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Select Place all certificates in the following store<\/strong> option. Make sure the specified Certificate store<\/strong> is Trusted Root Certification Authorities<\/em> then click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click Finish<\/strong>\u00a0to import the certificate.<\/p>\n

The certificate has been imported successfully. Click OK<\/strong> to close the window.<\/p>\n

After importing the certificate in the used browser, access the vCenter Server<\/a> once again. This time the URL is marked as Secure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Trying to upload a file to datastore, the operation is\u00a0now executed without any problem<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
