Vembu released the new Vembu BDR Suite 4.0 with the introduction of new features, such as the extension of the Microsoft Hyper-V support and CheckSum for incremental backups<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Vembu BDR Suite solution supports both\u00a0VMware vSphere<\/a> and\u00a0Microsoft Hyper-V<\/strong>\u00a0virtual environments as well as physical\u00a0Windows Servers\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Workstations<\/strong>. Features introduced in version 4.0 enforce the Hyper-V support<\/strong>\u00a0and extend the product's capabilities to satisfy the business requirements.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Announced some weeks ago, new features details can be found in\u00a0this post<\/a>. A summary<\/strong> of what's new is as follows:<\/p>\n Hyper-V cluster backup<\/strong>\u00a0- version 4.0 provides the capability to\u00a0protect running VMs inside a Hyper-V cluster<\/strong>\u00a0even if the VM is moved to another host due to a failure of the source host.<\/p>\n Shared VHDx backup<\/strong>\u00a0- the new version now supports Shared VHDx of Hyper-V.<\/p>\n CheckSum based incrementals<\/strong>\u00a0- if CBT used for incremental backups fails for any reason, CheckSum is used for the incrementals\u00a0preventing job interruption<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Credential Manager<\/strong>\u00a0- this new feature allows to manage the credentials of the host and the VMs running in it. Pretty useful feature since you\u00a0no longer need to enter the credentials<\/strong>\u00a0every time.<\/p>\n New API\u2019s to fetch storage details<\/strong>\u00a0- with a new set of APIs, you can now have a detailed report on storage utilization like the size of the VM, storage space utilized by a backup job, compression rate etc.<\/p>\n Improved application-aware for Hyper-V backups<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 you can now select which Hyper-V virtual machine needs the Application Aware processing enabled.<\/p>\n VM disk inclusion<\/strong>\u00a0- in version 4.0\u00a0the new disk will be backed up along with the\u00a0successive incremental<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Vembu made a good job\u00a0providing several new functionalities<\/strong>\u00a0to its backup solution making the product a complete backup solution suitable for every organization size.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Vembu BDR Essentials<\/a><\/p>\n This Vembu BDR Essentials Edition provides a\u00a0cost effective backup solution<\/strong>\u00a0for small businesses to protect their data\u00a0reducing costs up to 50%<\/strong>\u00a0compared to Vembu BDR Suite.
