You must use the <strong>account created during the <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/emc-data-domain-virtual-edition-deployment-and-configuration\/\">DD Boost configuration<\/a> step in the EMC Data Domain appliance. Make sure the Data Domain appliance <strong>name can be resolved<\/strong>. The <strong>Gateway server<\/strong> is used by Veeam to communicate with EMC Data Domain since the <strong>Veeam Data Mover Service<\/strong> cannot be installed into EMC Data Domain storage. For example, in this step <strong>Inline-deduplication<\/strong> option is disabled (useless if use EMC Data Domain) to decrease load on the backup proxy.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38364 size-full\" title=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-20\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-20.jpg\" alt=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-20\" width=\"463\" height=\"137\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Since no <strong>application-aware processing<\/strong> is required for this backup job, click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38366 size-large\" title=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-21\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-21-600x427.jpg\" alt=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-21\" width=\"600\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Configure a <strong>Schedule<\/strong> then click <strong>Apply<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38368 size-large\" title=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-22\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-22-600x427.jpg\" alt=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-22\" width=\"600\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>Summary<\/strong> window, click <strong>Finish<\/strong> to save the backup job configuration.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38370 size-large\" title=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-23\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-23-600x427.jpg\" alt=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-23\" width=\"600\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Right click the just configured backup job and select <strong>Start<\/strong> to execute the backup immediately.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38372 size-large\" title=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-24\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-24-600x477.jpg\" alt=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-24\" width=\"600\" height=\"477\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The backup is executed and completed successfully.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38374 size-large\" title=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-25\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-25-600x459.jpg\" alt=\"emc-data-domain-veeam-repository-25\" width=\"600\" height=\"459\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Veeam Backup &amp; Replication configuration<\/h2>\n<p>To optimize performance, Veeam suggests the following configuration settings:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Global options<\/h4>\n<p>You may consider\/evaluate to disable the <strong>Enable parallel processing<\/strong> option since it increases <strong>fragmentation in the backup files<\/strong> causing high random read during restore operations affecting negatively the performance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Job options<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Enable inline data deduplication<\/strong>\u00a0should be disabled since EMC Data Domain has already valid deduplication and compression capabilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Storage optimization<\/strong> set to <strong>Local target (16TB+ backup files)<\/strong>\u00a0improves Data Domain\u2019s deduplication process with better performance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Repository option<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Decompress backup data block before storing<\/strong>\u00a0should be enabled to avoid high load and slow backup jobs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Use per-VM backup files<\/strong> should be enabled since improves writing and reading data from the EMC Data Domain appliance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Backup mode<\/h4>\n<p>The\u00a0<strong>Reverse Incremental<\/strong> backup mode (it generates high random I\/O) can't be used in a backup job if a DDBoost repository has been configured.
