Therefore you need a strategy to ensure your mailboxes are protected and <strong>items can be recovered<\/strong> in case of need.<\/p>\n<p>To solve this situation, <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/altaro-vm-backup-8-0-wan-optimization-replication\/\">Altaro<\/a> Office 365 Backup comes into play.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Altaro Office 365 Backup features<\/h2>\n<p>The product provides several benefits for mailbox backups:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Easy items restore<\/strong> - a granular restore can be performed with Altaro Office 365 Backup to recover deleted, damaged or corrupted items.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Centralized backup management<\/strong> - from a single pane of glass you can manage and monitor your organization\u2019s Office 365 mailbox backups.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Secure storage<\/strong> - mailbox backups are secured through AES 256-bit encryption and stored in the Altaro managed Azure storage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Search and browse<\/strong> - mailbox backups are searchable and browsable through various filters.<\/li>\n<li><b>Scalable<\/b>\u00a0- starting from a 10 mailboxes package, you can scale up to tens of thousands of mailboxes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Access Altaro Office 365 Backup console<\/h2>\n<p>Compared to some other backup solutions, with Altaro you don't need to install any software in your computer. You are just required to login the <a href=\"https:\/\/manage.altaro.com\/#\/en_gb\/access\/signin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Altaro Cloud Management Console<\/a> (CMC) used to <strong>centrally manage and monitor<\/strong> your mailbox backups by entering your credentials specified in the <a href=\"https:\/\/go.altaro.com\/office-365-backup\/?LP=nolabnoparty-Article-review-O365&amp;Cat=SC&amp;utm_campaign=review-O365&amp;utm_medium=article&amp;utm_source=nolabnoparty\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">product's registration page<\/a>. Select <strong>Choose which Mailboxes to Back up<\/strong> option to specify what mailboxes have to be processed. Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38689 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-12\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-12-600x380.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-12\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A message confirms the Organization setup has been completed. Clicking on <strong>Finish<\/strong> the backup procedure starts automatically.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38691 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-13\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-13-600x380.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-13\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Depending on the data size, after a while the choosen mailboxes are backed up.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38694 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-14\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-14-600x380.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-14\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Disable backup or remove a mailbox from backup<\/h4>\n<p>To <strong>disable the backup<\/strong> for a specific mailbox or remove the mailbox from the backup list, click the corresponding <strong>settings icon<\/strong> and select the <strong>appropriate option<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38696 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-15\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-15-600x221.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-15\" width=\"600\" height=\"221\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Backed up mailboxes can be also <strong>sorted ascending or descending<\/strong> by name or backup time.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38698 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-16\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-16-600x187.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-16\" width=\"600\" height=\"187\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Restore a mailbox<\/h2>\n<p>Altaro provides two restore options for processed mailboxes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Restore entire mailbox<\/strong> - the entire mailbox is restored<\/li>\n<li><strong>Email granular restore<\/strong> - only selected items are restored<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Restore entire mailbox<\/h4>\n<p>To restore an entire mailbox, from the Dashbord go to <strong>Restore Entire Mailbox<\/strong> area. From <strong>Select an Office 365 Organization<\/strong> drop-down menu, specify the Organization on which the mailbox is located then click <strong>Next<\/strong> in the bottom-right side of the screen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38702 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-17\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-17-600x365.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-17\" width=\"600\" height=\"365\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the mailbox to restore then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38704 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-18\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-18-600x325.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-18\" width=\"600\" height=\"325\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the version (RPO) to restore and click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38706 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-19\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-19-600x313.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-19\" width=\"600\" height=\"313\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Altaro provides four different ways to restore a mailbox:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Restore to a <strong>PST<\/strong> file<\/li>\n<li>Restore to a <strong>ZIP<\/strong> archive<\/li>\n<li>Restore to <strong>same mailbox<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Restore to a <strong>different mailbox<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Choose the appropriate option and click <strong>Next<\/strong>. In the example the <strong>Restore to PST File<\/strong> has been selected.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38708 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-20\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-20-600x293.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-20\" width=\"600\" height=\"293\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The PST file is <strong>sent in ZIP format to the mailbox<\/strong> specified in the <strong>Select an Account<\/strong> field. A password is also generated to open the protected ZIP file received via email. Click on <strong>Copy<\/strong> button to copy the passphrase then click <strong>Restore<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38710 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-21\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-21-600x377.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-21\" width=\"600\" height=\"377\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The restore process begins. Click <strong>Go to Dashboard<\/strong> to monitor the restore progress.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38712 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-22\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-22-600x328.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-22\" width=\"600\" height=\"328\" \/><\/p>\n<p>An email is sent to the specified email account with the <strong>link to download the PST<\/strong> in ZIP format. Click the link to proceed with the download.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38714 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-23\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-23-600x297.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-23\" width=\"600\" height=\"297\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To extract the restored PST file, enter the passphrase generated by the system. Click <strong>OK<\/strong> to extract the file.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38716 size-full\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-24\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-24.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-24\" width=\"566\" height=\"364\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The PST file extracted from the ZIP archive.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38718 size-full\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-25\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-25.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-25\" width=\"505\" height=\"171\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The restored PST file can now be open in Outlook.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Email granular restore<\/h4>\n<p>Altaro provides in addition the capability to perform a granular restore to recover items from a mailbox. From the Dashbord go to <strong>Email Granular Restore<\/strong> area. From <strong>Select an Office 365 Organization<\/strong> drop-down menu, specify the Organization on which the mailbox is located then click <strong>Next<\/strong> in the bottom-right side of the screen.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38721 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-26\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-26-600x268.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-26\" width=\"600\" height=\"268\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the mailbox to process then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38723 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-27\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-27-600x298.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-27\" width=\"600\" height=\"298\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the <strong>version (RPO) to restore<\/strong> then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38725 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-28\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-28-600x313.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-28\" width=\"600\" height=\"313\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the selected mailbox, specify <strong>items to restore<\/strong> then click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38727 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-29\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-29-600x304.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-29\" width=\"600\" height=\"304\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Items to restore can be recovered in four different ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Restore item to a <strong>PST<\/strong> file<\/li>\n<li>Restore item to a <strong>ZIP<\/strong> archive<\/li>\n<li>Restore item to <strong>same mailbox<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Restore item to a <strong>different mailbox<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Select the restore destination and click <strong>Next<\/strong>. In the example, the restore has been configured to recover items in the same mailbox.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38729 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-30\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-30-600x304.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-30\" width=\"600\" height=\"304\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Choose the restore location for items to recover. Restored items can be stored in a dedicated folder (by default the system creates one) or in the original location by clicking the <strong>Restore Selected items back to their original folders<\/strong>\u00a0option. Click <strong>Restore<\/strong> to proceed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38731 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-31\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-31-600x304.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-31\" width=\"600\" height=\"304\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The restore process begins. Click <strong>Go to Dashboard<\/strong> to monitor the restore progress.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38733 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-32\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-32-600x304.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-32\" width=\"600\" height=\"304\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When the restore process has been completed, a notification <strong>email is sent<\/strong> to the specified account.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38739 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-33\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-33-600x500.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-33\" width=\"600\" height=\"500\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Accessing the corrisponding Office 365 mailbox, you can see a new folder used as restore location <strong>containing recovered items<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38741 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-34\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-34-600x292.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-34\" width=\"600\" height=\"292\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Configure Alerts<\/h2>\n<p>To know the <strong>result of a backup or restore<\/strong> process, you can enable alerts from <strong>Alerts Settings<\/strong> area. Move <strong>Enable Alerts<\/strong> to <strong>On<\/strong> and select the notifications you want to receive:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>First Mailbox Backup<\/li>\n<li>Failed Backups<\/li>\n<li>Successfull Restore<\/li>\n<li>Failed Restore<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-38745 size-large\" title=\"altaro-office-365-backup-35\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/altaro-office-365-backup-35-600x281.jpg\" alt=\"altaro-office-365-backup-35\" width=\"600\" height=\"281\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>Add Alert Recipient<\/strong> and enter an email address.
