Vembu BDR Suite 4.0.1<\/a> provides the capability to backup physical Windows Servers including the operating system, applications and files using the ImageBackup component.<\/p>\n

Relying on Vembu's proprietary CBT driver<\/strong> and ensuring an RPO < 15 minutes<\/strong>, failed physical Windows Servers can be quickly restored with the Quick VM Recovery and Instant File Level recovery functions reducing services disruption.<\/p>\n

In order to perform a physical Windows Server backup, Vembu injects an agent<\/strong> to the physical server to protect.<\/p>\n

Configure a backup job for physical Windows Servers<\/h2>\n
Using the preferred browser, access the login page of Vembu BDR Suite. Enter Username<\/strong> and Password<\/strong> then click Sign in<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

Select Backup > Microsoft Windows<\/strong> option from main menu.<\/p>\n

Enter the physical Windows Servers to backup and click Add Credentials<\/strong> to specify the credentials to use.<\/p>\n

\"vembu-bdr-suite-backup-physical-windows-server-04\"<\/p>\n

Enter User Name<\/strong> and Password<\/strong> of the Windows account with administrative provileges in the target server and optionally a Description<\/strong> to better identify the credentials type. Click Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When the credentials have been specified, click Add Host<\/strong> to inject the Vembu agent into the server to protect.<\/p>\n

Click OK<\/strong> to confirm the agent installation.<\/p>\n

Click on the Status<\/strong> icon to check the agent deployment progress.<\/p>\n

During the deployment process you may receive an error related to missing privileges<\/strong> required to install the agent. To continue with the configuration you need to grant the correct permissions.<\/p>\n

Grant permissions to the Windows account<\/h4>\n

To succeed with the agent deployment, the used account must have the appropriate privileges<\/strong> in the target physical Windows Servers.<\/p>\n

Login to the Windows Server and run services.msc<\/strong> to manage running services.<\/p>\n

From the available services, right click VembuBDR<\/strong> service and select Properties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Select This account<\/strong> option and enter the value .\\Administrator<\/strong><\/em> and the appropriated Password<\/strong> of the local machine administrator, then click Apply<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To enable the new configuration a service restart<\/strong> is required. Click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Right click VembuBDR<\/strong> service and select Restart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Selected service is being restarted.<\/p>\n

This time the agent deployment<\/strong> is completed successfully and the machine is now ready to be configured for the backup. Click Backup Now<\/strong> to configure the Backup Job.<\/p>\n

If Vembu ImageBackup<\/a> is not yet installed in the system, you may receive a warning. Click to Install Drivers<\/strong> link to install the required drivers.<\/p>\n

Click OK<\/strong> to proceed with server reboot.<\/p>\n

When the driver has been installed and the server rebooted, click Backup Now<\/strong> once again to proceed with the Backup Job configuration.<\/p>\n

Select the disk to protect and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Since a drive letter should be used, you receive a warning. Click OK<\/strong> to let the system automatically assign a letter to the partition.<\/p>\n

When all partitions have the drive letters assigned, click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If requested, you can enable the Application Aware Processing<\/strong> to ensure data integrity and consistency<\/strong> for database applications. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Specify a Schedule<\/strong> then click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Specify the desired Retention<\/strong> and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Enter the Job Name<\/strong> and enable the option Run this Job immediately after saving<\/strong> to run the backup without waiting for the configured schedule. Click Save the backup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click OK<\/strong> to confirm.<\/p>\n

The Backup Job has been created successfully. If the Run this Job immediately after saving<\/strong> option was previously enabled, the backup takes place immediately.<\/p>\n

Clicking the green triangle<\/strong> you can check the backup progress<\/strong> of the configured physical Windows Server.<\/p>\n

Depending on the size of the data to backup, after few minutes the job is completed successfully. From the Dashboard click Reports<\/strong> to get all info about the executed Backup Job.<\/p>\n
