{"id":40549,"date":"2019-09-24T09:00:19","date_gmt":"2019-09-24T07:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/?p=40549"},"modified":"2023-07-16T11:30:30","modified_gmt":"2023-07-16T09:30:30","slug":"dell-servers-fix-for-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/dell-servers-fix-for-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Dell Servers: fix for vSphere 6.7 Update 3 issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-40562 size-full\" title=\"dell-servers-workaround-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue-01\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/dell-servers-workaround-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue-01.jpg\" alt=\"dell-servers-workaround-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue-01\" width=\"602\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Latest <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/vmware-vsphere-6-7-update-3-released\/\">vSphere 6.7 Update 3<\/a> causes an issue to Dell Servers due to the presence of the <strong>Dell OpenManage 9.3<\/strong>\u00a0software\u00a0installed on ESXi hosts.<\/p>\n<p>OpenManage 9.3 is <strong>not compatible<\/strong> with ESXi 6.7 Update 3 and, as reported by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dell.com\/support\/article\/it\/it\/itbsdt1\/sln318662\/omsa-hosts-with-esxi-6-7-update-3-become-unresponsive-to-vcenter-with-task-time-outs-if-omsa-9-3-0-installed?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dell<\/a>, you may experience the following symptoms:<!--more--><\/p>\n<ul data-aura-rendered-by=\"11:111;a\">\n<li>Host tasks such as vMotion, snapshots, entering Maintenance Mode or VM-power-on fail or time out.<\/li>\n<li>Host gets disconnected from vCenter Server when you start a task.<\/li>\n<li>ESXi Embedded Host Client is not accessible.<\/li>\n<li>Esxcli commands are unresponsive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Fix Dell Servers issue<\/h2>\n<p>Currently <strong>there is no a real solution<\/strong> for this matter and the only way to fix the problem is to remove the <a href=\"https:\/\/dell.to\/2m3uqpY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Dell OpenManage 9.3 Server Administrator 9.3.0<\/a> VIB from the host.<\/p>\n<p>SSH the affected ESXi host and <strong>login as root<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-40564 size-large\" title=\"dell-servers-workaround-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue-02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/dell-servers-workaround-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue-02-600x213.jpg\" alt=\"dell-servers-workaround-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue-02\" width=\"600\" height=\"213\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Run the following command to <strong>remove the appropriate VIB<\/strong> from ESXi 6.7 Update 3 host:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"># esxcli software vib remove --vibname=OpenManage<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-40566 size-large\" title=\"dell-servers-workaround-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue-03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/dell-servers-workaround-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue-03-600x79.jpg\" alt=\"dell-servers-workaround-vsphere-6-7-update-3-issue-03\" width=\"600\" height=\"79\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After removing the Dell OpenManage Server Administrator 9.3.0 VIB, the ESXi 6.7 Update 3 installed on Dell Servers <strong>works with no issues<\/strong>.
