Veeam Backup for Office 365 v4.0 provides the capability of using an Object Storage (AWS S3<\/a>, Azure Blob, IBM Cloud and S3-compatible providers) as Backup Repository.<\/p>\n

The new feature allows the administrators to store backups directly to the cloud<\/strong> taking benefit of Object Storage capabilities reducing costs.<\/p>\n

Add an Organization to protect<\/h2>\n

From the main Dashboard select Organizations<\/strong> and click Add Org<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Select Microsoft Office 365<\/strong> as deployment type and specify services to protect<\/strong>. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Select the authentication method to use and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The new Organization is added to Veeam Backup for Office 365. Click Finish<\/strong> to exit the wizard.<\/p>\n

Setup Object Storage as Repository<\/h2>\n

A new feature provided in version 4.0 is the support for direct backups to an Object Storage. To configure a new Repository, access the Backup Infrastructure<\/strong> area and select the Object Storage Repositories<\/strong> item. Click Add Object Storage<\/strong> in the menu to proceed with the configuration.<\/p>\n

Enter a Name<\/strong> for the Object Storage Repository and optionally a Description<\/strong>. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In this example will be used an S3 Compatible<\/strong> provider such as Wasabi<\/a>. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Specify the Service Point<\/strong> and the Data center region<\/strong>. Click Add<\/strong> to specify the credentials to connect the bucket to use.<\/p>\n

Enter the Access key<\/strong>, the Secret key<\/strong> and a Description<\/strong>. Click OK<\/strong> to confirm.<\/p>\n

When the correct credentials have been selected, click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Select the Bucket<\/strong> to use and click Browse<\/strong> to specify the folder to store the backups. Click New folder<\/strong> to create a new folder and click OK<\/strong> to confirm.<\/p>\n

Clicking Advanced<\/strong> you can specify the storage consumption limit to keep costs under control. Click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click Finish<\/strong> to save the configuration.<\/p>\n

Configure the local Repository<\/h4>\n

Next step is the configuration of a new local backup Repository used to store metadata and cache<\/strong> since an Object Storage Repository cannot be added<\/strong> to the default Repository. From Backup Infrastructure<\/strong> area, select Backup Repositories<\/strong> and click Add Repository<\/strong> in the menu.<\/p>\n

Enter a\u00a0Name<\/strong>\u00a0and a\u00a0Description<\/strong>\u00a0then click\u00a0Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Specify the Backup Proxy<\/strong> to use and the Path<\/strong> to the location to store the backups. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To take benefit of the Object Storage feature, enable the Offload backup data to object storage<\/strong> option and select the previously created Repository from the drop-down menu. A new feature in version 4.0 provides in addition the capability to Encrypt data uploaded to object storage<\/strong>. Enable this option and set the Password<\/strong>. Click Next<\/strong>\u00a0to continue.<\/p>\n
