To take benefit of latest capabilities<\/strong> provided by version 8.0, running vRealize Log Insight<\/a> appliance must be upgraded by following a simple procedure.<\/p>\n

The procedure is automated and it takes only few minutes to complete<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In order to avoid issues<\/strong> if the upgrade procedure fails, take a snapshot<\/strong> of the appliance to upgrade before proceeding. Right click the vRealize Log Insight appliance and select Snapshots > Take Snapshot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Configure the network gateway<\/h2>\n

Before run the upgrade we need to add a parameter to the NIC configuration<\/strong> of the appliance due to a known issue<\/strong> during the upgrade from version 4.8 to 8.0.<\/p>\n

From vSphere Client access the appliance's console and press CTR+ALT+F1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Edit the NIC configuration<\/strong> file with the command:<\/p>\n

# vi \/etc\/syconfig\/networking\/devices\/ifcfg-eth0<\/span><\/p>\n

Add the gateway information<\/strong> with the correct IP address then save the file.<\/p>\n

Upgrade VMware Log Insight to version 8.0<\/h2>\n

Login to VMware Log Insight and go to Administration > Management > Cluster <\/strong>section. Click Upgrade Cluster<\/strong> to proceed with the upgrade procedure.<\/p>\n

Select the VMware-vRealize-Log-Insight-8.0.0-14870409.pak<\/em> file required to perform the upgrade of the existing installation. Click Upgrade<\/strong> to proceed.<\/p>\n

The .PAK file is being uploaded to the system.<\/p>\n

When the upload has completed, click Accept<\/strong> to accept the EULA and start the upgrade.<\/p>\n

The upgrade process begins.<\/p>\n

After few minutes, the procedure completes. Click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The installed version is now reported as 8.0.0<\/strong>. The upgrade was successfull.<\/p>\n
