{"id":47403,"date":"2021-01-28T09:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-01-28T08:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/?p=47403"},"modified":"2021-01-29T16:20:56","modified_gmt":"2021-01-29T15:20:56","slug":"nakivo-v10-2-with-sharepoint-and-s3-object-lock-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/nakivo-v10-2-with-sharepoint-and-s3-object-lock-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Nakivo v10.2 with SharePoint and S3 Object Lock support"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47411 size-full\" title=\"nakivo-10-2-sharepoint-s3-object-lock-support-01\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/nakivo-10-2-sharepoint-s3-object-lock-support-01.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-10-2-sharepoint-s3-object-lock-support-01\" width=\"602\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nakivo released the new Nakivo backup &amp; Replication 10.2 providing the support for <strong>SharePoint Online<\/strong> and <strong>S3 Object Lock<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>These new features add an <strong>extra layer of security<\/strong> to data backup adding the protection against ransomware attacks or accidental deletions.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>What's new in Nakivo 10.2<\/h2>\n<p>The new release introduces three main features that extend the Nakivo capabilities in terms of <strong>protection and security<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>SharePoint Online backup<\/h4>\n<p>With the target of protecting Microsoft 365 against accidental data deletion and retention policy gaps, in addition to <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/nakivo-9-2-configure-office-365-backup-job\/\">Exchange Online<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/nakivo-backup-replication-10-1-with-onedrive-support\/\">OneDrive for Business<\/a> support, version 10.2 provides the protection also for SharePoint Online.<\/p>\n<p>This new feature allows companies to protect SharePoint Online data as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Backup SharePoint Online sites and subsites<\/li>\n<li>Recover document libraries and lists to the original or a different location<\/li>\n<li>Use the search functionality to locate and recover items quickly for compliance and e-discovery purposes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47417 size-large\" title=\"nakivo-10-2-sharepoint-s3-object-lock-support-02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/nakivo-10-2-sharepoint-s3-object-lock-support-02-600x328.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-10-2-sharepoint-s3-object-lock-support-02\" width=\"600\" height=\"328\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>S3 Object Lock<\/h4>\n<p>Nakivo introduced the <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/nakivo-backup-replication-store-backups-in-aws-s3\/\">backup to Amazon S3<\/a> in previous version and with this new S3 Object Lock function you can now protect backups data <strong>against ransomware<\/strong> making the objects immutable for as long as required using the <strong>write-once-read-many<\/strong> (WORM) model. Keep in mind once the retention has been set, it <strong>cannot be shortened or disabled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>S3 Object Lock <strong>increase the security level<\/strong> allowing the following extra protection:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Protects backups from <strong>overwriting and deletion<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Protect backups against <strong>ransomware attack<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Makes <strong>objects immutable<\/strong> for as long as you need<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Backup to Amazon S3 and S3 Object Lock features bring the following benefits:<\/p>\n<div class=\"feature__item\">\n<ul>\n<li class=\"feature__title\"><strong>Direct Backup<\/strong> - backups can be sent directly to Amazon S3<\/li>\n<li class=\"feature__desc\"><strong>Backup Copy<\/strong> - to be compliant with 3-2-1 backup rule, a copy of your backups can be stored in Amazon S3<\/li>\n<li class=\"feature__desc\"><strong>Instant VM Boot<\/strong> - backed up VMs can be booted directly from Amazon S3 for near-instant recovery<\/li>\n<li class=\"feature__desc\"><strong>Ransomware Protection<\/strong> - leveraging the S3 Object Lock functionality, backup data are protected against deletion and overwriting<\/li>\n<li class=\"feature__desc\"><strong>File Recovery<\/strong> - files and folders granular recovery is supported<\/li>\n<li class=\"feature__desc\"><strong>Object Recovery<\/strong> - objects restore supported (Exchange, Active Directory, and SQL Server)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47419 size-large\" title=\"nakivo-10-2-sharepoint-s3-object-lock-support-03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/nakivo-10-2-sharepoint-s3-object-lock-support-03-600x269.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-10-2-sharepoint-s3-object-lock-support-03\" width=\"600\" height=\"269\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Tenant Resource Allocation<\/h4>\n<p>This feature provides an effective means of <strong>allocating data protection<\/strong> infrastructure resources to tenants offering <strong>more control and flexibility<\/strong> to MSPs and large enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>With Tenant Resource Allocation administrators can perform the following tasks:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Assigning resources<\/strong> such as hosts, clusters, VMs, backup repositories and transporters to the tenants.<\/li>\n<li>Implementing <strong>role-based access control<\/strong> and grant permissions to tenants to do some data protection activities in the Self-Service Portal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Licensing<\/h2>\n<p>The new features are available with the following licenses:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>SharePoint Online backup<\/strong> - available with a <strong>Backup for Microsoft 365 <\/strong>subscription, it is licensed <strong>per user<\/strong> (starts as low as $0.75 per user\/month for a three-year subscription) and comes with 24\/7 Support.<\/li>\n<li><strong>S3 Object Lock<\/strong> - is available with <strong>perpetual or subscription<\/strong> licenses for Enterprise, Enterprise Essentials and Enterprise Plus editions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tenant Resource Allocation<\/strong> - available in multi-tenant deployments of Nakivo Backup &amp; Replication, it is licensed with a <strong>monthly or annual subscription<\/strong> (MSP Pro, MSP<br \/>\nEnterprise and Enterprise Plus editions) for MSPs, whilst for <strong>large enterprises<\/strong> it requires a <strong>subscription or perpetual licenses<\/strong> in the Enterprise and Enterprise Plus editions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nakivo Backup &amp; Replication 10.2 is available to download as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nakivo.com\/resources\/download\/trial-download\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">15-day free trial<\/a> with <strong>full access<\/strong> to all Nakivo features (Backup &amp; Replication, Backup for Microsoft Office 365, Amazon S3 Object Lock Support and Tenant Resource Allocation).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"signature\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/firma.jpg\" alt=\"signature\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nakivo released the new Nakivo backup &amp; Replication 10.2 providing the support for SharePoint Online and S3 Object Lock.
