When Master Node, Data Node and Witness Node have been deployed, the Continuous Availability feature can be easily enabled in vRealize Operations Manager<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To obtain best performance and a reliable vROps infrastructure<\/strong>, additional Data Nodes should be deployed in your environment.<\/p>\n

Deploy additional Data Nodes<\/h2>\n

For production environments is recommended to deploy two pairs of Data Nodes<\/strong>. Two additional nodes are deployed to fulfill the best practices by following the same procedure covered in part 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n

One Data Node is deployed in the primary site<\/strong> where the Master Node is located.<\/p>\n

The second Data Node is deployed in the secondary site<\/strong> in order to have an even number of Data Nodes to create the pair.<\/p>\n

\"vrops-enable-ca-03\"<\/p>\n

Click Finishing Adding New Node(s)<\/strong> button to add the two new nodes to the vROps cluster.<\/p>\n

\"vrops-enable-ca-04\"<\/p>\n

After some minutes all new nodes are Online<\/strong> and Running<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Enable the Continuous Availability<\/h2>\n

Click Enable CA<\/strong> button to proceed with Continuous Availability configuration.<\/p>\n

By default the Master Node<\/strong> is placed in Fault Domain 1<\/strong>. Drag and drop other Data Nodes to Fault Domains 1 and 2 in order to create some pairs<\/strong>. Data Nodes placed in Fault Domain 1 must belong to same physical location<\/strong> as well as Data Nodes for Fault Domain 2.<\/p>\n

When done, click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Continuous Availability feature is being enabled.<\/p>\n

During the CA enabling procedure, the vROps cluster will go offline<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"vrops-enable-ca-10\"<\/p>\n

After some minutes, the cluster goes back online<\/strong> and Continuous Availability feature is enabled.<\/p>\n

The vROps cluster is now taking benefit of the CA feature ensuring high availability<\/a> of the cluster even in the event of a complete failure of one Fault Domain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Shutdown and startup the vROps cluster<\/h2>\n

Log into the Administration GUI at the address https:\/\/<IP-vrops-master>\/admin<\/span>\u00a0then click on Take The Cluster Offline<\/strong> button. This will start the graceful shutdown<\/strong> of services running in the cluster.<\/p>\n

Enter a Reason<\/strong> and click OK<\/strong> to confirm.<\/p>\n

The vROps cluster is going offline.<\/p>\n

\"vrops-enable-ca-15\"<\/p>\n

Wait until the cluster is reported as offline<\/strong> before proceeding with the appliances shutdown operation.<\/p>\n

Access the vCenter and shutdown the nodes<\/strong> following this order:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Remote Collector nodes if installed<\/li>\n
  2. Data Nodes<\/li>\n
  3. Master Replica Node<\/li>\n
  4. Master Node<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Startup the vROps cluster<\/h4>\n

    To startup the cluster<\/strong> just follow the inverse order:<\/p>\n

    1. Primary node<\/li>\n
    2. Primary replica node<\/li>\n
    3. Data nodes<\/li>\n
    4. Remote Collector nodes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Following the correct shutdown and startup order is very important to avoid negative effects<\/strong> on the vRealize Operations Manager<\/a> cluster.<\/p>\n
