Two additional nodes are deployed to fulfill the best practices by following the same procedure covered in <a href=\"#\">part 2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One Data Node is <strong>deployed in the primary site<\/strong> where the Master Node is located.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47848 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/vrops-enable-ca-02-600x403.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-02\" width=\"600\" height=\"403\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The second Data Node is <strong>deployed in the secondary site<\/strong> in order to have an even number of Data Nodes to create the pair.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47850 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/vrops-enable-ca-03-600x403.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-03\" width=\"600\" height=\"403\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>Finishing Adding New Node(s)<\/strong> button to add the two new nodes to the vROps cluster.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47852 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-04\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/vrops-enable-ca-04-600x392.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-04\" width=\"600\" height=\"392\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After some minutes all new nodes are <strong>Online<\/strong> and <strong>Running<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47860 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-05\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/vrops-enable-ca-05-600x393.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-05\" width=\"600\" height=\"393\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Enable the Continuous Availability<\/h2>\n<p>Click<strong> Enable CA<\/strong> button to proceed with Continuous Availability configuration.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47862 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-06\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/vrops-enable-ca-06-600x248.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-06\" width=\"600\" height=\"248\" \/><\/p>\n<p>By default the <strong>Master Node<\/strong> is placed in <strong>Fault Domain 1<\/strong>. Drag and drop other Data Nodes to Fault Domains 1 and 2 in order to <strong>create some pairs<\/strong>. Data Nodes placed in Fault Domain 1 must belong to <strong>same physical location<\/strong> as well as Data Nodes for Fault Domain 2.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47864 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-07\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/vrops-enable-ca-07-600x457.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-07\" width=\"600\" height=\"457\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When done, click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47866 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-08\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/vrops-enable-ca-08-600x457.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-08\" width=\"600\" height=\"457\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Continuous Availability feature is being enabled.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47868 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-09\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/vrops-enable-ca-09-600x126.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-09\" width=\"600\" height=\"126\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the CA enabling procedure, the vROps <strong>cluster will go offline<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47870 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-10\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/vrops-enable-ca-10-600x395.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-10\" width=\"600\" height=\"395\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After some minutes, the <strong>cluster goes back online<\/strong> and Continuous Availability feature is enabled.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47874 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-11\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vrops-enable-ca-11-600x486.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-11\" width=\"600\" height=\"486\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The vROps cluster is now taking benefit of the CA feature ensuring <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/High-availability_cluster\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">high availability<\/a> of the cluster even in the event of a <strong>complete failure of one Fault Domain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47876 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-12\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vrops-enable-ca-12-600x440.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-12\" width=\"600\" height=\"440\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Shutdown and startup the vROps cluster<\/h2>\n<p>Log into the Administration GUI at the address <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">https:\/\/&lt;IP-vrops-master&gt;\/admin<\/span>\u00a0then click on <strong>Take The Cluster Offline<\/strong> button. This will start the <strong>graceful shutdown<\/strong> of services running in the cluster.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47879 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-13\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vrops-enable-ca-13-600x335.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-13\" width=\"600\" height=\"335\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Enter a <strong>Reason<\/strong> and click <strong>OK<\/strong> to confirm.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47881 size-full\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-14\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vrops-enable-ca-14.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-14\" width=\"400\" height=\"380\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The vROps cluster is going offline.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47883 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-15\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vrops-enable-ca-15-600x332.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-15\" width=\"600\" height=\"332\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wait until the cluster is <strong>reported as offline<\/strong> before proceeding with the appliances shutdown operation.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47885 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-16\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vrops-enable-ca-16-600x446.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-16\" width=\"600\" height=\"446\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Access the vCenter and <strong>shutdown the nodes<\/strong> following this order:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Remote Collector nodes if installed<\/li>\n<li>Data Nodes<\/li>\n<li>Master Replica Node<\/li>\n<li>Master Node<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47887 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-17\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vrops-enable-ca-17-600x428.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-17\" width=\"600\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Startup the vROps cluster<\/h4>\n<p>To <strong>startup the cluster<\/strong> just follow the inverse order:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Primary node<\/li>\n<li>Primary replica node<\/li>\n<li>Data nodes<\/li>\n<li>Remote Collector nodes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-47889 size-large\" title=\"vrops-enable-ca-18\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/vrops-enable-ca-18-600x354.jpg\" alt=\"vrops-enable-ca-18\" width=\"600\" height=\"354\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Following the correct shutdown and startup order is very important to <strong>avoid negative effects<\/strong> on the <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/modificare-lhostname-in-vrealize-operations-manager-8-0\/\">vRealize Operations Manager<\/a> cluster.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"signature\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/firma.jpg\" alt=\"signature\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When Master Node, Data Node and Witness Node have been deployed, the Continuous Availability feature can be easily enabled in vRealize Operations Manager.
