{"id":51894,"date":"2021-12-22T09:00:08","date_gmt":"2021-12-22T08:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/?p=51894"},"modified":"2026-04-29T12:26:30","modified_gmt":"2026-04-29T10:26:30","slug":"vmware-horizon-configure-login-as-current-user-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/vmware-horizon-configure-login-as-current-user-2\/","title":{"rendered":"VMware Horizon: configure login as current user"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-51917 size-full\" title=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-01\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/horizon-login-as-current-user-01.jpg\" alt=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-01\" width=\"602\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To avoid the process of entering the credentials to access the <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/vmware-horizon-8-customize-the-login-page\/\">Horizon infrastructure<\/a>, the <a href=\"https:\/\/customerconnect.vmware.com\/en\/downloads\/info\/slug\/desktop_end_user_computing\/vmware_horizon_clients\/horizon_8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Horizon View Client<\/a> can be configured to allow the login as current user.<\/p>\n<p>Before enabling this feature, you should evaluate if this feature is still compliant with your <strong>security policies<\/strong>.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Configure the Connection Server<\/h2>\n<p>To enable the<em> Login as current user<\/em> capability, you need first to configure your <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/vmware-horizon-7-12-installing-connection-server-pt-1\/\">Connection Servers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Login as administrator to your Connection Server by entering the correct credentials then click <strong>Sign in<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-51919 size-full\" title=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/horizon-login-as-current-user-02.jpg\" alt=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-02\" width=\"564\" height=\"649\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the Horizon console, access the <strong>Settings &gt; Servers<\/strong> area. Go to <strong>Connection Servers<\/strong> tab, select the first <strong>server to configure<\/strong> and click <strong>Edit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-51921 size-large\" title=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/horizon-login-as-current-user-03-600x334.jpg\" alt=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-03\" width=\"600\" height=\"334\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select <strong>Authentication<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-51923 size-large\" title=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-04\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/horizon-login-as-current-user-04-600x442.jpg\" alt=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-04\" width=\"600\" height=\"442\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Scroll down the screen and enable the <strong>Accept logon as current user<\/strong> option under <strong>Current User Authentication<\/strong>. Depending on your environment, you may need to enable additional options.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Allow Legacy Clients option<\/strong> - if you are using <span id=\"GUID-44683992-28B0-4ED5-8720-81125462AF25__PRODUCTNAME_45539C3ED74B45848FBCD58C9C835BDD\" class=\"ph productname\">Horizon Client<\/span> versions <strong>2006 and 5.4 and earlier versions<\/strong>, you must enable also this option.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Allow NTLM Fallback<\/strong> - when there is no access to the domain controller, <strong>NTLM authentication<\/strong> is used instead of Kerberos. NTLM group policy settings must be enabled in Horizon Client.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Click <strong>OK<\/strong> when done.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-51925 size-large\" title=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-05\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/horizon-login-as-current-user-05-600x442.jpg\" alt=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-05\" width=\"600\" height=\"442\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Repeat same operation also for the other Connection Servers.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-51927 size-large\" title=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-06\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/horizon-login-as-current-user-06-600x335.jpg\" alt=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-06\" width=\"600\" height=\"335\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Configure the Horizon View Client<\/h2>\n<p>Open the Horizon View Client and click on the <strong>Settings<\/strong> drop-down menu and enable the <strong>Log in in as current user<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-51929 size-large\" title=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-07\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/horizon-login-as-current-user-07-600x454.jpg\" alt=\"horizon-login-as-current-user-07\" width=\"600\" height=\"454\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you try connecting the Horizon infrastructure from Horizon View Client, the user is logged automatically <strong>without prompting for credentials<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Bear in mind that option <em>Login as current user<\/em> is available only <strong>after rebooting<\/strong> the VM once the Horizon Client has been installed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"signature\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/firma.jpg\" alt=\"signature\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>To avoid the process of entering the credentials to access the Horizon infrastructure, the Horizon View Client can be configured to allow the login as current user.
