Vembu released the new Vembu BDRSuite<\/a> v5.3, the software backup solution for VMware and Hyper-V<\/strong> that comes with some new features such as the support for Azure Blob, Active Directory integration and File Server backup.<\/p>\n

Designed to protect VMware and Hyper-V environments, the BDRSuite provides the most requested features by backup administrators to protect virtual and also physical machines<\/strong> installed in the infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Vembu BDRSuite v5.3 what's new<\/h2>\n

Version 5.3 provides the following new features:<\/p>\n

File Server backup<\/h4>\n

Version 5.3 provides now the support for file and folder level backup<\/strong> for Windows and Linux file servers centralizing the management from the BDRSuite Backup Server. Backup agents<\/strong> can be manually installed or pushed from the Backup Server.<\/p>\n

To backup a file server, go to Data Sources<\/strong> and select Add Microsoft Windows<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click on Add Microsoft Windows<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

Enter the IP Address\/DNS Name<\/strong> and Credential<\/strong> for the server to protect and specify the Install BBA<\/strong> (backup agent) mode. Click Save<\/strong> to save the configuration.<\/p>\n

Same capability is also available to protect Linux file servers. Just select Data Source > Add Linux<\/strong> option to proceed.<\/p>\n

Azure Blob as Backup Repository<\/h4>\n

Azure Blob can now be configured as target repository<\/strong> for backup and backup copy<\/strong>\u00a0jobs.<\/p>\n

To configure an Azure Blob repository, select Backup Server > Object Storage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click Create New Object Storage Repository<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Enter the Repository Name<\/strong> and select Azure Blob Storage<\/strong> as Repository Type<\/strong>. Specify the Credential<\/strong> to connect the Azure Blob and select the Container<\/strong> to store the backup. Click Create<\/strong> to create the repository.<\/p>\n

Integrity check on VMware ESXi Server<\/h4>\n

To test the recoverability of the backed up machines, it is now possible to automate the boot test<\/strong> on VMware ESXi hosts.<\/p>\n

From Backup<\/strong> menu, select Configure Backup Settings > Data Integrity<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n

Enable Integrity check for VMs\/Disk Images<\/strong> switch and select VMware<\/strong> as Target Hypervisor<\/strong>. Specify the requested parameters then click Update<\/strong> to save the configuration.<\/p>\n

Endpoint Backup<\/h4>\n

Files and folders backup of Windows and Linux Endpoints can now be configured directly<\/strong> from the Backup Server console. Backup agents<\/strong> can be manually installed or pushed from the backup server. Multiple endpoints can be also added using the CSV file<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To configure files and folders backup, select Backup > Configure Backup > Microsoft Windows > Files & Folders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click on Files\/Folders Selection and Exclusions<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

Active Directory integration<\/h4>\n

For users management<\/strong>, Active Directory can now be integrated into the Backup Server to import or add<\/strong> users from Active Directory. Levels of access<\/strong> to the Backup Server can be specified for each user.<\/p>\n

To configure Active Directory integration, select Backup Server > AD\/LDAP Server<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n

Click Add AD\/LDAP Servers<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n

Enter the Server Name\/IP Address<\/strong> of the Domain Controller, the Domain<\/strong> and the Credential<\/strong>. Click Save<\/strong> to save the configuration.<\/p>\n

The specified Domain Controller has been added successfully\u00a0to BDRSuite.<\/p>\n

Select AD\/LDAP User<\/strong> as User Type<\/strong> and the configured domain from the Select Domain<\/strong>\u00a0field. Click the Select User<\/strong> drop-down menu to specify the user to configure.<\/p>\n

The Active Directory users are now listed. Select the user to configure, grant the required permission from the Select Access Privilege<\/strong> drop-down menu then click Add User<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
