AWS S3<\/a>, Wasabi<\/a>, and BlackBlaze platforms were already supported in previous Nakivo versions and now with the addition of Azure Blob Storage, the most common and popular cloud object storage solutions are now supported.<\/p>\n

Configure the Azure environment<\/h2>\n

To configure the backup to Azure Blob Storage, you need to configure all the resources<\/strong> required in the Azure Blob Storage structure.<\/p>\n

Create the Azure application<\/h4>\n

First step to do is the creation of a new Azure application.<\/p>\n

Login to your Azure portal<\/a> and click Azure Active Directory<\/strong> to create the Azure application.<\/p>\n

Access the App registrations<\/strong> section and click New registration<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Specify the Name<\/strong> for the application then click Register<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The new application has been created.<\/p>\n

Create the Storage account<\/h4>\n

From the Azure portal, select Storage accounts<\/strong> service to access the configuration area.<\/p>\n

If no Storage accounts are available, click Create<\/strong> to create a new one.<\/p>\n

Specify both Azure Subscription<\/strong> and Resource group<\/strong> to use. If no existing resource groups are available, click the Create new<\/strong> link.<\/p>\n

Enter the new group Name<\/strong> then click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Under Instance details<\/strong>, specify Storage account name<\/strong>, Region<\/strong> and Performance<\/strong>. As Redundancy<\/strong> type the Geo-redundant storage (GRS)<\/strong> is the recommended option for backup purposes (in the example the cheaper Locally-redundant storage (LRS)<\/strong> option is used). Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the Advanced<\/strong> area, select Cool<\/strong> as Access tier<\/strong> because is specific for backup scenarios. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Networking<\/strong> area, leave default values and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Data Protection<\/strong> leave default settings. If you want to make your backups immutable, thick both Enable versioning for blobs<\/strong> and Enable version-level immutability support<\/strong> options. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Encryption<\/strong> you can configure the encryption settings for your data. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If requested, specify Tags<\/strong> to use then click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Click Create<\/strong> to create the configured storage account.<\/p>\n

The storage account is being created.<\/p>\n

After few seconds, the resource has been created successfully. Click Go to resource<\/strong> for details.<\/p>\n

Assign role<\/h4>\n

Once the storage account has been created, you need to assign the correct role<\/strong> to the application previously created.<\/p>\n

Access the Access Control (IAM)<\/strong> area and select Add > Add role assignement<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In the Role<\/strong> tab, enter storage blob<\/em> in the search bar<\/strong> to filter the available roles then select Storage Blob Data Owner<\/strong> role. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Members<\/strong> tab, select User, group, or service principal<\/strong> option for the Assign access to<\/strong> field then click on Select members<\/strong> link to assign the role to the desired application.<\/p>\n

Enter nakivo <\/em>in the Select<\/strong> bar and select the corresponding application previously created. Click Apply<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The application Nakivo Repository<\/em> has been assigned to the selected role. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Skip the Conditions<\/strong> tab and go to Review + assign<\/strong>. Click Review + assign<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Create a Container<\/h4>\n

From the selected storage account, enter blob<\/em> in the search bar<\/strong> to filter available options. Select Containers<\/strong> and click Container<\/strong> to create the new resource.<\/p>\n

Enter the Name<\/strong> for the new container and click Create<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Azure credentials<\/h4>\n

From Azure Active Directory<\/strong>, access the App registrations<\/strong> section and click on the application created at the beginning (Nakivo Repository<\/em> in the example).<\/p>\n

Write down both Application (client) ID<\/strong> and Directory (tenant) ID<\/strong> required to configure the Blob in Nakivo.<\/p>\n

Access the Certificates & secrets<\/strong> section and click New client secret<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Enter a Description<\/strong> and specify the Expires<\/strong>. Click Add<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Write down the just created Value<\/strong> that will be used in Nakivo later.<\/p>\n

Configure the backup to Azure Blob Storage in Nakivo<\/h2>\n

Login to Nakivo Backup & Replication<\/a> v10.7 with the correct credentials.<\/p>\n

Add Azure account to the Inventory<\/h4>\n

From the Nakivo main dashboard, go to Settings<\/strong> area and access the Inventory<\/strong> section. Click Add New<\/strong> to add the Azure Blob to the Inventory.<\/p>\n

Select Cloud<\/strong> and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Select Microsoft Azure Storage<\/strong> and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Enter a Display name<\/strong> for the new object then enter the values previously noted from Azure:<\/p>\n
