{"id":56729,"date":"2023-03-23T09:00:44","date_gmt":"2023-03-23T08:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/?p=56729"},"modified":"2023-03-21T10:12:42","modified_gmt":"2023-03-21T09:12:42","slug":"nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-for-vgpu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-for-vgpu\/","title":{"rendered":"NVIDIA error \"Could not initialize plugin libnvidia-vgx.so for vGPU...\""},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-56730 size-full\" title=\"nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-01\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-01.jpg\" alt=\"nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-01\" width=\"602\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When the <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/configure-dls-nvidia-license-system\/\">NVIDIA vGPU<\/a> is added to a VM, the \"<em>Could not initialize plugin libnvidia-vgx.so for vGPU...<\/em>\" error is displayed while power on.<\/p>\n<p>The error prevents the VM to be <strong>powered on<\/strong> until the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nvidia.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NVIDIA vGPU<\/a> is removed.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Fix the \"Could not initialize plugin libnvidia-vgx.so for vGPU...\" error<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Add the vGPU<\/strong> to the selected virtual machine and click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-56732 size-large\" title=\"nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-02-600x491.jpg\" alt=\"nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-02\" width=\"600\" height=\"491\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you <strong>Power On<\/strong> the virtual machine, the following error is displayed:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Could not initialize plugin libnvidia-vgx.so for vGPU nvidia_xxx_xx.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56734\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-03.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"332\" height=\"143\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>To fix this error you need to check the <strong>SR-IOV Global Enabled<\/strong> setting in the <strong>Server's BIOS<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Access the iDRAC (or equivalent remote card) and select <strong>Configuration &gt; BIOS Settings<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-56736\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-04-600x360.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Go to the <strong>Integrated Devices<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-56738\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-05-600x513.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"513\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Locate the <strong>SR-IOV Global Enable<\/strong> field and set to <strong>Enable<\/strong>. Click <strong>Apply<\/strong> then click <strong>At Next Reboot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-56740\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-06-600x668.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"668\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-56742\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-07-600x233.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"233\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Put the ESXi in <strong>Maintenance Mode<\/strong> then reboot the host. Right click the host and select <strong>Power &gt; Reboot<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-56744\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-08-600x416.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"416\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Exit the host from Maintenance Mode and place the VM to the just configured host. <strong>Power On<\/strong> the virtual machine equipped with the NVIDIA vGPU.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56746\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-09.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"461\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Now the virtual machine has been powered on successfully.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56748\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/nvidia-error-could-not-initialize-plugin-libnvidia-vgx-so-10.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"515\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>Enabling the <em>SR-IOV Global Enabled<\/em> parameter in the Server's BIOS, the error <em>Could not initialize plugin 'libnvidia-vgx.so\u2019 for vGPU...<\/em>\u00a0is now fixed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"signature\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/firma.jpg\" alt=\"signature\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When the NVIDIA vGPU is added to a VM, the \"Could not initialize plugin libnvidia-vgx.so for vGPU...\" error is displayed while power on.
