{"id":57903,"date":"2023-06-21T09:00:19","date_gmt":"2023-06-21T07:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/?p=57903"},"modified":"2023-06-17T17:23:28","modified_gmt":"2023-06-17T15:23:28","slug":"veeam-vbr-v12-and-vbo-v7-whats-next","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/veeam-vbr-v12-and-vbo-v7-whats-next\/","title":{"rendered":"Veeam VBR v12 and VBO v7... what's next"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-57908 size-full\" title=\"veeam-vbr-v12-vbo-v7-whats-next-01\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/veeam-vbr-v12-vbo-v7-whats-next-01.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-vbr-v12-vbo-v7-whats-next-01\" width=\"602\" height=\"202\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Veeam revealed the new features that will be available with the next release of <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/upgrade-veeam-backup-replication-to-v12\/\">Veeam VBR (Backup &amp; Replication)<\/a> and Veeam VBO (Backup for Microsoft 365) products.<\/p>\n<p>With these new releases, Veeam further <strong>extends the feature set<\/strong> available in these products.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Veeam VBR (Backup &amp; Replication)<\/h2>\n<p>Next release of Veeam Backup &amp; Replication (currently version 12) will provide the following new features and enhancements.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-57910 size-full\" title=\"veeam-vbr-v12-vbo-v7-whats-next-02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/veeam-vbr-v12-vbo-v7-whats-next-02.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-vbr-v12-vbo-v7-whats-next-02\" width=\"600\" height=\"377\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>New features<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Veeam CDP<\/strong> - added new capabilities such as\u00a0SureReplica,\u00a0Planned Failover, File-Level recovery.<\/li>\n<li><strong>PowerPC<\/strong> - expanded the PowerPC support (Linux Agent, SAP Hana plug-in).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Syslog<\/strong> - Backup &amp; Replication and VeeamONE products can now send logs to syslog systems.<\/li>\n<li><strong>KMS<\/strong> - added the support for KMS via KIMP protocol.<\/li>\n<li><strong>IBM Db2<\/strong> - integration with IBM Db2.<\/li>\n<li><strong>PostgreSQL<\/strong> - added the Instant Recovery capability.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dell Data Domain<\/strong> - after a long wait, the upcoming release will support the Data Domain Immutability.<\/li>\n<li><strong>HPE Catalyst<\/strong> - added support for Copy Immutability.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Object Storage<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Backup<\/strong> - backup to Veeam repositories or directly to tape.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Buckets<\/strong> - added the capability of restoring entire buckets (permissions, attributes, tags).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Granular restore<\/strong> - restore individual objects or specific object versions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>More<\/strong> - immutability, object versions archive, backup copy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Secure Restore<\/h4>\n<p>Currently in Veeam VBR v12, backups restored to production can be scanned against malwares only in <strong>post-process mode<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Post-process<\/strong> - although post-process allows to detect <strong>dormant threats<\/strong> and <strong>deep offline scans<\/strong>, the <strong>restore process can take long time<\/strong> since every backup needs to be scanned against malwares.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Next Veeam VBR release will allow the administrators to perform also the <strong>inline detection approach<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Inline detection<\/strong> - instant identification of potentially unsafe backups, all backups can be analyzed with a <strong>little impact on performance<\/strong>, no third-party tools are required (but can be used as data sources) since the <strong>needed tool is built-in<\/strong>. The drawback side of this approach is that ransomware can be detected <strong>only after it has become active<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Veeam VBO (Backup for Microsoft 365)<\/h2>\n<p>Version 7.0 is the latest available release for Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 to <strong>protect Microsoft 365<\/strong>\u00a0environment.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-57912 size-full\" title=\"veeam-vbr-v12-vbo-v7-whats-next-03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/veeam-vbr-v12-vbo-v7-whats-next-03.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-vbr-v12-vbo-v7-whats-next-03\" width=\"600\" height=\"373\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Security enhancements<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>MFA for Console and Explorers<\/strong> - to enforce security upcoming new version will support MFA.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Immutability<\/strong> - support for Immutability also for primary backup. The current version supports immutability for Backup Copy only.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Added support<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Shared and private Teams channels.<\/li>\n<li>Public Folders (Modern Authentication).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Scalability<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Proxy Pools and Linux Proxies support.<\/li>\n<li>Improved performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veeam.com\/vm-backup-recovery-replication-software.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Veeam Backup &amp; Replication<\/a><b> <\/b>and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.veeam.com\/backup-microsoft-office-365.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365<\/a>\u00a0versions should be released in the <strong>second half of the year 2023<\/strong> but a precise date has not yet been communicated.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"signature\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/firma.jpg\" alt=\"signature\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Veeam revealed the new features that will be available with the next release of Veeam VBR (Backup &amp; Replication) and Veeam VBO (Backup for Microsoft 365) products.
