If a Hardened Repository is not time synced with the Veeam Server, <strong>backups stay immutable forever<\/strong> filling the storage space quickly with wrong time.<\/p>\n<p>Veeam v12.1 introduces the Time Step detection feature that <strong>prevents the backup job execution<\/strong> for time steps <strong>larger than 24h<\/strong> creating a warning.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-59369 size-large\" title=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-07\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-07-600x196.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-07\" width=\"600\" height=\"196\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Through the <strong>ImmutabilityAttributeConsoleSeverity<\/strong> attribute you can define <strong>error vs warning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Continuous Data Protection (CDP)<\/h2>\n<p>Version 12.1 also introduces some new features for CDP which enhance its functionality.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"fontstyle0\">CDP Replica Recoverability<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>If the Continuos Data Protection (CDP) replica is used in your infrastructure, version 12.1 provides the <strong>Test CDP Replica recoverability<\/strong> leveraging SureReplica.<\/p>\n<p>CDP Replicas can now be tested to ensure protected <strong>workloads can be restored<\/strong> if a disaster occurs. During the failover test the <strong>replica is not stopped but continues working<\/strong>. CDP can also be <strong>scanned by antivirus, YARA and CRC check<\/strong> to ensure replicas malware free.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-59371 size-large\" title=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-08\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-08-600x464.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-08\" width=\"600\" height=\"464\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The number of <strong>maximum protected disks<\/strong> supported by CDP has been <strong>increased from 2.000 up to 7.000<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Files recovery<\/h4>\n<p>Files <strong>deleted few seconds ago<\/strong> can now be easily restored from CDP replica from <strong>any restore point<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-59373 size-large\" title=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-09\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-09-600x428.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-09\" width=\"600\" height=\"428\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Planned failover<\/h4>\n<p>Planned failover can be executed <strong>without service disruption<\/strong>. This feature is useful in case workloads should be migrated with <strong>zero data loss<\/strong> due to planned power outage, earthquakes, hurricanes and so forth.<\/p>\n<p>When a Planned failover is triggered VM gets <strong>powered off before failover<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If a <strong>manual failover<\/strong> is performed, CDP replicas are stopped (as opposed replica tests).<\/li>\n<li>When SureReplica is executed, long-term restore points are not created and no retention processing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-59377 size-medium\" title=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-10\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-10-300x222.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-10\" width=\"300\" height=\"222\" \/><\/p>\n<p>During the configuration of the CDP replica, it's now possible to <strong>change the Disk Type<\/strong> for initial configuration.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-59379 size-large\" title=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-11\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-11-600x315.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-11\" width=\"600\" height=\"315\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"fontstyle0\"><strong>Traffic intensity<\/strong> in point-in-time failover wizard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-59381 size-full\" title=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-12\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-12.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-12\" width=\"550\" height=\"376\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>NAS Backup<\/h2>\n<h4><span class=\"fontstyle0\">Simplify NAS Backup Restores<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The new version simplifies the restore process introducing the <strong>Compare with Production<\/strong> feature with the <strong>Restore changed only<\/strong> option. Files can be quickly identified and restored in a few seconds.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-59383 size-large\" title=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-13\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-13-600x199.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-v12-1-whats-new-pt-2-13\" width=\"600\" height=\"199\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This feature is available for <strong>NAS backup and Object Storage backup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Backup Object Storage<\/h2>\n<p>Object Storage can now be <strong>added as source to inventory<\/strong> for the following platforms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Amazon S3<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Azure Blob (EntraID supported)<\/li>\n<li>S3 Compatible (Region is optional)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To perform the backup of an Object Storage, both <strong>Windows and Linux Proxies<\/strong>\u00a0are supported.<\/p>\n<p>During the creation of the Backup Job, valid sources you can use are the <strong>entire account, buckets, prefix\/folder and objects<\/strong>.
