You can perform the backup on <strong>Weekly, Monthly, Yearly or Periodic basis<\/strong> as well as <strong>After another job<\/strong>. Enabling the <strong>Prioritize schedules<\/strong> option, configured schedules will be treated in term of priorities processing only the schedule with the highest priority in case of schedule overlap. Here you can also define the backup retention by specifying the <strong>Keep backups for<\/strong> parameter.<\/p>\n<p>You can create multiple schedules by clicking <strong>Add another schedule<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-61498 size-large\" title=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-08\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-08-600x377.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-08\" width=\"600\" height=\"377\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A <strong>second Schedule<\/strong> for the same Backup Job is configured in the same way. If you are backing up a VM that requires app-aware processing (Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, Oracle Database), make sure <strong>App-aware mode<\/strong> is set to <strong>Enabled<\/strong> and click <strong>settings<\/strong> to configure VMs to process (it is required the <strong>latest version of VMware Tools<\/strong> installed and VSS properly configured\u00a0on source VMs).<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-61504 size-large\" title=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-11\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-11-600x330.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-11\" width=\"600\" height=\"330\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select only the <strong>VMs that require app-aware processing<\/strong> then click <strong>Apply<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-61506 size-large\" title=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-12\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-12-600x550.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-12\" width=\"600\" height=\"550\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To ensure consistency for the databases installed on the VMs to backup, specify the <strong>Pre and Post Actions<\/strong> to run during the Backup Job operation. Leave the <strong>Transport mode<\/strong> set as <strong>Automatic selection<\/strong> unless you know what you are doing and enable the <strong>Limit transporter load to<\/strong> to specify the max number of concurrent tasks. Enabling the <strong>Bottleneck detection<\/strong> option may be useful to identify the bottlenecks in your network that <strong>slow down the backup<\/strong>. The Backup Copy Job is used to <strong>create another copy of the backup<\/strong> by taking the data <strong>directly from the Backup Repository<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>without affecting the Production<\/strong>. To create a Backup Copy Job, an existing Backup Job is required.<\/p>\n<p>From the Nakivo console click the <strong>+ (plus) icon<\/strong> and select <strong>Backup copy<\/strong> under <strong>Backup Copy Job<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-61522 size-large\" title=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-20\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-20-600x342.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-20\" width=\"600\" height=\"342\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select the Backup Job to process and the <strong>VMs to include<\/strong> in the job. Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-61524 size-large\" title=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-21\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-21-600x377.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-21\" width=\"600\" height=\"377\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Specify the <strong>Destination type<\/strong> (values are Disk or Tape) and the <strong>Destination<\/strong>\u00a0(can be any repository configured in Nakivo). For obvious reasons, <strong>don't select the same repository<\/strong> used by the Backup Job. Click <strong>Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-61526 size-large\" title=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-22\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-22-600x377.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-22\" width=\"600\" height=\"377\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Specify the desired <strong>Schedule<\/strong> for the Backup Copy Job. Enable <strong>Maintain exact copy of the source backup<\/strong> to keep same retention of the corresponding Backup Job. To store the backup off-site you need to <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/back-to-basics-nakivo-backup-repository\/\">configure an external repository<\/a> first. In this example, the Wasabi Repository is used to store the Backup Copy.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-61542 size-large\" title=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-30\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-30-600x370.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-30\" width=\"600\" height=\"370\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the Nakivo console click the <strong>+ (plus) icon<\/strong> and select <strong>Backup copy<\/strong> under <strong>Backup Copy Job<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-61544 size-large\" title=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-31\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-31-600x343.jpg\" alt=\"nakivo-backup-vmware-vsphere-31\" width=\"600\" height=\"343\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Select from the list the <strong>Backup and the VMs<\/strong> to use as source. Note you have <strong>both Backup Job and Backup Copy Job<\/strong> displayed.
