VMs protected by regular backups can leverage Veeam Recovery Orchestrator (VRO) Recovery Plans to automate the restore action<\/strong> in case of a disaster.<\/p>\n

Regular backups can be used by VRO to orchestrate the required recovery operations<\/strong> to restore services in case of a source VM failure or a disaster in the Production Site.<\/p>\n

Create Recovery Plans for Backups<\/h2>\n

Login to Veeam Recovery Orchestrator<\/a> and access the Recovery Plans<\/strong> section. Select Manage > New<\/strong> to create a new Recovery Plan.<\/p>\n

Assign a Plan Name<\/strong> and optionally a Description<\/strong>. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Select\u00a0Restore<\/strong>\u00a0as\u00a0Plan Type<\/strong>. This option allows to recover VMs from backups. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Select the appropriated Recovery Location<\/strong> previously created and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In the\u00a0Inventory Groups<\/strong>\u00a0section, select from\u00a0Available Groups<\/strong> the Backup Job<\/strong> configured in Veeam Backup & Replication<\/a> at Production Site and click Add<\/strong>. When the plan group has been added, click Next<\/strong> to continue. Next steps are the same as the configuration procedure done for replica.<\/p>\n

When the plan configuration has been saved, the plan is displayed in the Recovery Plans<\/strong> section. Make sure the State<\/strong> is set to Verified<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Run the Recovery Plan<\/h2>\n

Select the created Recovery Plan and enable it by selecting Manage > Enable<\/strong>, then right click the plan and select Run<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Enter the requested Administrator Password<\/strong>\u00a0and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Result<\/strong> must be reported as Success<\/strong> to continue. Click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Select the Recovery Location<\/strong> created for Backups and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Specify the Restore Point<\/strong> to use and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

If you want to scan the restore points for possible malware before restoring, enable Check malware flags on a maximum of XX restore points<\/strong> option and click Next<\/strong>. If this option is enabled, the recovery will take longer to complete<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Click Finish<\/strong> to run the Recovery Plan.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Restore operation runs<\/strong> recovering the VMs added to the plan.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In Veeam Backup & Replication<\/a> the Restore operation<\/strong> is being executed.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

After a few seconds the Restore<\/strong> process completes successfully.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In the DR vCenter Server the restored VMs are up and running<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Reset the Recovery Plan<\/h2>\n

To stop the Recovery Plan, right click the plan and select Manage > Reset<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Enter the Administrator Password<\/strong>\u00a0and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Enable Perform a Quick Check after reset is complete<\/strong> and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Click Finish<\/strong> to reset the plan.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The reset process is applied to the selected plan.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Recovery Plans for Replica, Agents and Backups must be run when source VMs fails or the entire Production Site fails<\/strong> because recovered VMs become Production VMs once powered on.<\/p>\n

Part 7<\/a> will cover the procedure to run Recover Plans in Data Labs<\/strong> for testing purposes without impacting the Production.<\/p>\n
