CBT works also for powered off VMs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Veeam BitLooker<\/strong> - unused disk blocks are automatically excluded from backup saving valuable storage space.<\/li>\n<li><b>Repository<\/b>\u00a0- all Veeam Repository types are supported, including <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/veeam-v12-sneak-peek-direct-backup-to-object-storage\/\">Object Storage<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/veeam-v12-configuring-a-hardened-repository\/\">Hardened Repositories<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>VM recovery<\/strong> - workloads running on the supported platforms (VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, Red Hat Virtualization, Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager, AWS,<br \/>\nAzure and Google Cloud) can be restored to Proxmox VE and the other way around too. Physical Servers can also be restored to Proxmox VE.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Granular restore<\/strong> - changed and deleted files can be recovered ensuring business continuity limiting unplanned disruption.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Nutanix AHV<\/h4>\n<p>The integration with Nutanix AHV has been enhanced with <strong>improved centralized managemen<\/strong>t, new capabilities and backup architecture simplification.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Prism Central integration<\/strong> - backup operations across Prism Central-managed clusters can be managed from a single backup appliance simplifying the backup architecture.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dynamic Backup Jobs scope<\/strong> - leveraging the VM categories (aka tags), VMs are automatically included into Backup Jobs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Backup from secondary VM copy<\/strong> - backups from VM replica can be enabled via a single checkbox offloading backup operations from production clusters reducing the impact on production environment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Multiple network adapter<\/strong> - multiple NICs can now be used in both AHV appliance and workers to improve the data processing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Advanced job settings<\/strong> -\u00a0 compression level, block size, BitLooker options can now be adjusted to improve performance and optimize backup sized consumption.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gmail and Microsoft 365<\/strong> - in addition to SMTP, notifications via email can now be sent via Google Gmail and Microsoft 365.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Resources view<\/strong> - improved the VM inventory view, VMs can be added to existing protection policies with a single click.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>MongoDB<\/h4>\n<p>Veeam Backup and Replication v12.2 offers the native support for <strong>backup and recovery<\/strong> of MongoDB on Linux.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-63108 size-full\" title=\"veeam-backup-and-replication-v12-2-and-upgrade-procedure-03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/veeam-backup-and-replication-v12-2-and-upgrade-procedure-03.jpg\" alt=\"veeam-backup-and-replication-v12-2-and-upgrade-procedure-03\" width=\"594\" height=\"169\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Extended support<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>VMware vSphere<\/strong> - added the full support for <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/vmware-vsphere-8-0-update-3-released\/\">vSphere 8.0 Update 3<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>SAP Hana<\/strong> - the plugin now supports the platform RHEL 9.4 for SAP HANA.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Veeam Agent for Linux<\/strong> - added full support for OpenSuse 15.6, SLES 15 SP6 (for x86_64), Debian 12.4 and Fedora 40.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Amazon AWS<\/strong> - support for Amazon Redshift Cluster and Amazon FSx protection.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Microsoft Azure<\/strong> - added support for data stored in Microsoft Azure Data Lake and Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Enhancements<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>CDP I\/O Filter<\/strong> - version 12.2 allows multiple I\/O filter protocol version support, ensuring the communication with upgraded backup server of later versions without service disruption.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Veeam App for Splunk<\/strong> - status of Veeam backup infrastructure can be monitored using using Splunk capabilities. The supported versions are Splunk Enterprise 9.1.0 or Splunk Cloud Platform 9.1.2308 and later.<\/li>\n<li><strong>SOBR direct to archive<\/strong> - Scale-out repositories now support the direct offload of data backups from Performance Tier to Archive Tier without landing on Capacity Tier first.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Security<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Malware detection<\/strong> - improved the detection of Onion Links and Malware detection index improvements.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Role-Based Access (RBAC)<\/strong> -\u00a0added the new role Incident API Operator role to better interact with Veeam Incident API REST endpoint.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Security &amp; Compliance Analyzer<\/strong> - expanded the analyzers checks to enforce the security.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Image-level backup<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Backup Copy<\/strong> - Backups Copy Jobs can now transfer data from Hardened Repositories directly to Object Storage without requiring a Gateway Server.<\/li>\n<li><strong>SureBackup<\/strong> - added the Continuous schedule feature to continuously testing random VMs for recoverability or scanning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Veeam Agents<\/h4>\n<p>In Veeam Backup and Replication v12.2, Veeam Agent platforms <strong>capabilities have been extended<\/strong> with new features and improved performance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Storage integration<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Object storage<\/strong> - v12.2 introduces some enhancements and performance improvements for Object Storage Repositories.<\/li>\n<li><strong>HPE Storage Arrays<\/strong> - Veeam now supports the HPE\u2019s native Virtual Lock functionality for HPE 3PAR, Primera, Alletra, and Alletra MP storage devices making the created storage snapshots immutable adding an extra layer of security.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Upgrade to Veeam and Replication v12.2<\/h2>\n<p>Before upgrading to Veeam Backup and Replication v12.2, make sure that <strong>no jobs are running<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Mount the Veeam installation <strong>ISO file<\/strong> and double click the <strong>Setup.exe file<\/strong>.
