Tools like Aria Operations Manager, ControlUp, eG Innovations, just to name a few, can be invaluable in such scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>Which Horizon protocol is actually in use, how many resources are consumed, how much time is necessary for the client to establish a session with a desktop are <strong>just a few of the complex investigations<\/strong> that need to be performed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>The Horizon Performance Tracker supports <strong>these configurations<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All OSs that support Horizon Agent are supported with the exception for Linux Agents.<\/li>\n<li>With the exception of <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/join-a-linux-vm-to-active-directory-using-sssd\/\">Horizon Client for Linux<\/a> and Windows 10 UWP as published applications, all Horizon Client versions are supported.<\/li>\n<li>Supported only Blast and PCoIP display protocols.<\/li>\n<li>.NET Framework version 4.0 or later.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>How to install the Horizon Performance Tracker<\/h2>\n<p>During the installation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/vmware-horizon-true-sso-configuration-pt-1\/\">Horizon<\/a> Agent, enable the <strong>Horizon Performance Tracker<\/strong> option.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-64716 size-full\" title=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-02.jpg\" alt=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-02\" width=\"507\" height=\"386\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Once the Horizon Agent installation is complete, an <strong>icon will appear<\/strong> on the user's desktop.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-64718 size-full\" title=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-03.jpg\" alt=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-03\" width=\"340\" height=\"142\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When you open the application, there are <strong>two tabs available<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>At a Glance<\/strong> - this tab shows metrics associated with the current remote connection, such as protocol in use, network bandwidth, info about the Transport and so on.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Session Properties<\/strong> - session details are displayed in this tab<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>At Glance<\/h4>\n<p>This tab provides all useful info for having an overview of the <strong>remote session status<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Horizon Performance Tracker <strong>displays metrics<\/strong> of the following features:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Given Protocol<\/li>\n<li>Network bandwidth usage<\/li>\n<li>Transport type<\/li>\n<li>Encoder in use<\/li>\n<li>CPU usage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-64721 size-full\" title=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-04\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-04.jpg\" alt=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-04\" width=\"486\" height=\"697\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the <strong>At Glance<\/strong> tab you can also switch the view from a <strong>grid to a graph view<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-64723 size-full\" title=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-05\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-05.jpg\" alt=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-05\" width=\"486\" height=\"697\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Session Properties<\/h4>\n<p>The <strong>Session Properties<\/strong> tab shows information related to the current session such as broker URL, device and peripheral details, keyboard type, location, and so on.<\/p>\n<p>This tab helps the Administrators to determine if the end <strong>user's endpoint has an issue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-64725 size-full\" title=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-06\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-06.jpg\" alt=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-06\" width=\"486\" height=\"697\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Limitations<\/h2>\n<p>Although it is a very useful tool, the Horizon Performance Tracker has some limitations that do not allow for an <strong>in-depth analysis<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>If the user reports poor performance, the tool doesn't provide a <strong>complete resource usage overview<\/strong> (CPU, RAM, disk I\/O) which limits the assess whether resources are insufficient.<\/li>\n<li>For example <strong>GPU details are not available<\/strong> then GPU usage and the profile type in use cannot be determined (picture from ControlUp).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-64727 size-large\" title=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-07\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-07-600x127.jpg\" alt=\"omnissa-horizon-performance-tracker-07\" width=\"600\" height=\"127\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Horizon Performance Tracker is still a valuable (and free) starting point to investigate potential issues with endpoints.<\/p>\n<p>Additional info about Horizon Agent can be found on the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.omnissa.com\/bundle\/HorizonOverviewDeployment\/page\/HorizonAgent.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Omnissa website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" title=\"signature\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/firma.jpg\" alt=\"signature\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Omnissa Horizon Performance Tracker is a tool used by the Administrators to gather user experience when using an Horizon VDI.
