Enter the <strong>Number of tapes<\/strong> and the <strong>Tape Type<\/strong> to create and, if requested, a <strong>Custom Tape Size<\/strong>. Click <strong>Create<\/strong> to proceed.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-65373 size-full\" title=\"starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-16\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-16.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-16\" width=\"567\" height=\"488\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The specified number of tapes are created successfully.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-65375 size-large\" title=\"starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-17\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-17-600x403.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-17\" width=\"600\" height=\"403\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Mount the VTL device<\/h2>\n<p>Access the Windows server <strong>used as data mover<\/strong> by the backup software and open the <strong>iSCSI Initiator Properties<\/strong> tool.<\/p>\n<p>Go to <strong>Discovery<\/strong> tab and click <strong>Discover Portal<\/strong>. Enter the <strong>IP address or DNS name<\/strong> of the StarWind VTL Linux appliance's <strong>Data traffic<\/strong> NIC. Click <strong>Advanced<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-65377 size-full\" title=\"starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-18\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-18.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-18\" width=\"481\" height=\"691\" \/><\/p>\n<p>From the <strong>Local Adapter<\/strong> drop-down list select <strong>Microsoft iSCSI Initiator<\/strong> then select the <strong>Initiator IP<\/strong> used by the server (tape server) for the <strong>VTL Data traffic<\/strong>. Click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-65387 size-full\" title=\"starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-23\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-23.jpg\" alt=\"starwind-vtl-linux-setup-vtl-device-23\" width=\"481\" height=\"691\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Install tape library drivers<\/h2>\n<p>Based on the configured tape library as VTL device, <strong>download the corresponding driver<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/support.hpe.com\/connect\/s\/softwaredetails?language=en_US&amp;sp4ts.oid=1010418919&amp;softwareId=MTX_d99a598f49424b10bf8fcfaa75&amp;tab=releaseNotes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"fontstyle0\">HP MSL8096<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/docs\/en\/spectrum-archive-le\/2.4.0.0?topic=system-installing-tape-driver-windows\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span class=\"fontstyle0\">IBM TS03584<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this example, the HP driver will be used.
