When using Omnissa Horizon<\/a>, the copy and paste operation between the local device and Published Applications<\/a> may not work.<\/p>\n

By default, this feature is disabled for security reasons<\/strong>. A straightforward way to enable this is by using Dynamic Environment Management (DEM)<\/b>, a tool included with the Horizon solution.<\/p>\n

Default behavior<\/h2>\n

Login to the VDI environment with an entitled user<\/strong>. Enter username and password then click Login<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Open a Published App<\/strong> (Notepad++ in the example).<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The application opens and the user can begin writing.<\/p>\n

From Client to Published App<\/h4>\n

On your local device, open an application like Notepad<\/strong> and type a test sentence, for example \"test copy & paste from client to published app<\/em>\". Highlight the sentence, right click and click Copy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In the Horizon Published App, right-click to\u00a0 paste. The Paste option will be grayed out<\/strong>. This is because copy and paste from the client to Published Apps is disabled by default<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

From Published App to Client<\/h4>\n

In the Published App, write a sentence like \"test copy & paste from published app to client<\/em>\". Right-click and select Copy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Go to your local application (e.g., Notepad), right-click, and select Paste<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The pasted text will be the same as what was previously copied from the client, \"test copy & paste from client to published app<\/em>\". This is expected behavior<\/strong>, as copy and paste is disabled in both directions<\/strong> by default.<\/p>\n

Enable copy and paste feature<\/h2>\n

The copy and paste capability for Published Apps can be enabled using the Dynamic Environment Management (DEM)<\/a> tool within the Omnissa Horizon solution.<\/p>\n

Install the DEM Agent<\/h4>\n

The DEM Agent must be installed on the RDS Hosts<\/strong> configured in the Horizon Farm<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Access the RDS Host and install the DEM Agent by double clicking the installation file<\/strong>.\u00a0Accept the EULA and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Keep the Default Folder<\/strong> and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Select the Custom<\/strong> installation option.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Ensure the Agent<\/strong> feature is selected and click Next<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Click Install<\/strong> to begin the installation.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The Agent is being installed.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Once complete, click Finish<\/strong> to exit the wizard.<\/p>\n

Apply the DEM GPO<\/h4>\n

For DEM<\/a> to work with Published Apps, its GPO must be applied to the RDS Hosts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On a Domain Controller, open the Group Policy Management<\/strong> tool. Right click the OU containing the RDS Hosts and select Link an Existing GPO<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Select the appropriate GPO<\/strong> and click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Create an Horizon Smart Policy in DEM<\/h4>\n

Open the Omnissa Dynamic Environment Manager <\/a>tool and navigate to User Environment > Horizon Smart Policies<\/strong>. Click Create<\/strong> to make a new policy.<\/p>\n

Enter a Name<\/strong> for the policy a Label<\/strong> to describe its functionality. Locate Clipboard<\/strong> under the Redirection<\/strong> section and select Allow all<\/strong> from the drop-down menu. Click Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The created policy.<\/p>\n

Create a Condition Set<\/h4>\n

If other DEM policies should not apply<\/strong> to Published Apps, create a Condition Set<\/strong> to filter them.<\/p>\n

Go to Condition Sets<\/strong> and click Create<\/strong> to make a new policy.<\/p>\n

Enter a Name<\/strong> and a Label<\/strong> to describe its functionality. Click Add<\/strong> and select Environment Variable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

In the Environment variable<\/strong> field, type the name of the variable (e.g., COMPUTERNAME). From the drop-down menu, select Contains<\/strong> then specify the text that identifies the RDS Hosts<\/strong> (e.g., w22-rdhs). Click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To exclude GPO from being processed<\/strong> with this variable, select the new condition and click Edit<\/strong>. Choose NOT<\/strong> to negate the condition.<\/p>\n

When the condition has been created, click Save<\/strong> to save the configuration.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

The created Condition Set<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Apply the Condition Set<\/h4>\n

To apply this condition set to a policy open the GPO you want to filter (e.g., a Printer Mapping policy), go to Conditions<\/strong>\u00a0tab. Click\u00a0Add<\/strong>\u00a0and select\u00a0Condition Set<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Select the Condition Set created and click OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ensure the AND<\/strong> operator is selected between any existing conditions and the new condition set. Click Save<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Test the configuration<\/h2>\n

Open the Published App again and highlight the text \"test copy & paste from published app to client<\/em>\". Right click the text and select Copy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Go to your local application, right click and select Paste<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The text copied from the Published App will now be pasted correctly<\/strong> into the client. The copy and paste feature is now fully working.<\/p>\n

Only enable this copy and paste feature if required, as it can potentially introduce security risks<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
