{"id":7632,"date":"2013-09-30T07:00:44","date_gmt":"2013-09-30T06:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/?p=7632"},"modified":"2014-11-20T09:11:18","modified_gmt":"2014-11-20T08:11:18","slug":"clamav-update-error","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/en\/clamav-update-error\/","title":{"rendered":"ClamAV update error while downloading daily definitions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"margin: 10px auto 5px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"clamaverror01\" alt=\"clamaverror01\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/clamaverror01.jpg\" width=\"602\" height=\"202\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Using security systems that make use of <em>ClamAV<\/em>, you may receive the <strong>ClamAV update error<\/strong> while downloading the daily definitions update.<\/p>\n<p>The error occurs when ClamAV tries to update the signatures and one recent incremental update experienced a problem <strong>corrupting the file daily.cld<\/strong> involved in the process.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"clamaverror02\" alt=\"clamaverror02\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/clamaverror02.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"257\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>To fix this matter is necessary to <strong>delete two files<\/strong> to restore the functionality.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>mirrors.dat<\/li>\n<li>daily.cld<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Delete corrupted files<\/h2>\n<p>In <em>CentOS<\/em> Linux distribution, the <strong>files are located<\/strong> in the directory:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\/var\/lib\/clamav<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000a0;\"># cd \/var\/lib\/clamav<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"clamaverror03\" alt=\"clamaverror03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/clamaverror03.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"133\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rename the two files. Actually <strong>you can delete<\/strong> both files, I keep them just for security.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000a0;\"># mv mirrors.dat mirrors.dat.old<br \/>\n# mv daily.cld daily.cld.old<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"clamaverror04\" alt=\"clamaverror04\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/clamaverror04.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"53\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Manually update ClamAV<\/h2>\n<p>Once files have been deleted, <strong>manually update<\/strong> ClamAV using the <em>freshclam<\/em> command in order to rebuild the mirrors list and the signatures.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"clamaverror05\" alt=\"clamaverror05\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/clamaverror05.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"198\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When the update completes successfully, <strong>delete the two files<\/strong> previously renamed no longer necessary.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #0000a0;\"># rm *.old <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"clamaverror06\" alt=\"clamaverror06\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/clamaverror06.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"68\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>ClamAV is now able to <strong>perform scheduled updates<\/strong> via cron.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"firma\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/firma.jpg\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Using security systems that make use of ClamAV, you may receive the ClamAV update error while downloading the daily definitions update.
