In vCenter Server 5.5 the Host Profile creation<\/strong> procedure fails with error \"Value specified is out of range\".<\/p>\n This issue is caused by a devices that have not been properly removed<\/strong> from the host. The error you receive is the following:<\/p>\n A general system error occurred: <\/p>\n <\/p>\n To fix this problem you need to manually remove the references<\/strong> to the detached devices left in the system.<\/p>\n Enable SSH<\/strong>\u00a0access in the ESXi host you need to fix.<\/p>\n Open an SSH session<\/strong> to the host who failed the host profile creation task then run the command:<\/p>\n # esxcli storage core device list<\/span><\/p>\n A list of devices<\/strong> are shown in the screen.<\/p>\n Look for devices with no configured value in Display Name, Multipath Plugin, Vendor, Model, etc. fields. Take note of the affected NAA ID<\/strong>.<\/p>\n These devices are still referenced<\/strong> but need to be removed in order to solve the issue. To list devices with an\u00a0off State<\/strong>\u00a0run the command:<\/p>\n # esxcli storage core device detached list <\/span><\/p>\n To remove permanently<\/strong> the devices, run the command:<\/p>\n # esxcli storage core device detached remove -d <NAA_ID><\/span><\/p>\n Now try creating the host profile once again.<\/p>\n This time the task complete successfully and the Host Profile created is shown in the Host Profiles tab<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Repeat the procedure for all affected hosts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n In vCenter Server 5.5 the Host Profile creation procedure fails with error \"Value specified is out of range\".
