PernixData FVP installation requires each hosts to be equipped with one <strong>SSD or PCIe<\/strong> device.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pernixdata.com\/products\/pernixdata-fvp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PernixData FVP<\/a> is a solution embedded in the hypervisor that provide <strong>I\/O performance enhancements<\/strong> to unmodified VMs on an existing SAN. In my LAB I\u2019ve used a 256GB\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Transcend-256GB-SATA-inch-TS256GSSD320\/dp\/B008M9U3CG\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1402039881&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=TS256GSSD320\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Transcend SSD SATA III<\/strong><\/a> HDD.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"fvpinstallation03\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/fvpinstallation03.jpg\" alt=\"fvpinstallation03\" width=\"210\" height=\"300\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE<\/strong>: types and capacities of flash devices across hosts <strong>can be different<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Software<\/h4>\n<p>Once you receive the credentials, login to the <a href=\"https:\/\/pernixdatainc.force.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PernixData website<\/a> and go to <strong>Documents and Downloads<\/strong> section.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" style=\"margin: 0px auto; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; float: none; padding-top: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"fvpinstallation04\" src=\"https:\/\/nolabnoparty.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/fvpinstallation04.jpg\" alt=\"fvpinstallation04\" width=\"600\" height=\"506\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Download the components that <strong>match your vSphere edition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>PernixData FVP Host Extension software on ESXi host(s).<\/li>\n<li>PernixData FVP Management Server software on a Windows server (2008 or 2012).<\/li>\n<li>PernixData FVP UI Plugin \u2013 With vSphere 5.5 the UI Plugin will be available via the Web Client.<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft .Net 3.5 SP1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Install PernixData FVP Host Extension<\/h2>\n<p>First <strong>install the flash devices<\/strong> (SSD or PCIe) in the ESXi hosts. PernixData FVP <strong>does not require VMFS\u00a0formatted datastores<\/strong> on any flash device to be used. For vSphere Web Client 5.5 edition there are <strong>no further steps<\/strong> to perform.
