A detailed pricing is available in the Vembu website.
Backup features
Vembu performs image-based backups (snapshot technology) and all VM backups are forever incrementals using the Changed Block Tracking (CBT) technology to identify and transfer only changed data to the repository. Vembu VMBackup provides fast, secure and LAN free data transfer using Hot-Add and SAN transport mode to offload management and production networks. To reduce the storage needs, data are compressed and encrypted.
Backups are application-aware to ensure consistency for data during the backup of high transactional applications, such as Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, SQL and Active Directory, and log files are truncated at the end of backup.
The storage management has been optimized with a proprietary VembuHIVE file system, storage targets performance and scalability are enhanced and provides also a built-in error correction. Vembu also supports Scale-out Repositories to extend the repository capacity by adding Local, DAS, SAN and NAS storage without affecting configured backup jobs.
Quick VM Recovery
The Quick VM Recovery feature allows to boot backed up VMs without restoring the entire VM from backup first. Vembu supports the Instant Recovery for VMs and files. The software uses the proprietary Vembu Universal Explorer tool to support the Item Level Recovery for Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, SQL and Active Directory.
Copy backups Offsite and to Cloud
To guarantee data integrity and VM recoverability, Vembu sends backup copies to an offsite data center or to Vembu Cloud for disaster recovery purpose.
Replication
To obtain a quick recover for mission critical virtual machines, VMs can be replicated to target servers without installing any proxies. Replication includes the options to instantly failover and failback the replicated VMs to reduce the business downtime. Production host network and IP address with the DR host network are automatically mapped avoiding manual work during failover.
Test backups
To ensure a VM can be safely recovered from a backup, the Automated Backup Verification feature tests the backup automatically by booting a VM from the repository and sending via email screenshots captured of the booted VM.
There are three verification checks to avoid data loss:
- Boot check – to ensure the bootability of the OS disk, VMs from backup repository are instantly booted.
- Mount check – ensures the backed up disks in each VMs are mountable.
- Integrity check – the integrity of each backup file is checked using the Windows check disk utility.
