VMware released the vSphere 6.0 Update 1 introducing new enhancements and bug fixes.
Security (support for SSLv3 disabled, encryption for Kerberos authentication), stretched clusters and the introduction of HTML 5 for the installer and the user interface are the main features introduced with this release.
What's new
The vSphere 6.0 Update 1 contains the following enhancements:
ESXi
• vSphere APIs for I/O Filtering (VAIO)
• Exclusive affinity to additional system contexts associated with a low-latency VM introducing new VMX options:
- optionsched.cpu.latencySensitivity.sysContexts
- thesched.cpu.latencySensitivity.sysContexts
- optionsched.cpu.latencySensitivity.sysContexts
• ESXi now only support AES256-CTS/AES128-CTS/RC4-HMAC encryption for Kerberos communication between ESXi and Active Directory
• Support for SSLv3 has been disabled by default
• Virtual SAN 6.0 Update 1 now supports stretched clusters

vCenter Server
• Suite UI is now enabled by default for the vSphere Web Client
• Support for SSLv3 has been disabled by default
• vCSA now only support AES256-CTS/AES128-CTS/RC4-HMAC encryption for Kerberos authentication between vCSA and Active Directory
• vSAN and FT work together
• Installation and upgrade supported using HTML 5 installer:
- Installation using HTML 5 installer and target as vCenter Server is supported
- Upgrade using HTML 5 installer and target as vCenter Server is not supported
- Upgrade using command line and target as vCenter Server is supported
• Appliance Management has a new user interface written in
• Platform Services Controller has a new management interface written in HTML5
• Fixed some bugs

Before upgrading
Before upgrading to vSphere 6.0 Update 1, read carefully the KB2124669 article.
Upgrade the vCSA
Since vCenter Server Windows based can be updated simply running the installer, the vCSA appliance requires a different procedure to apply the patch. Full how-to can be found in this post.
Mount the Update 1 ISO file, SSH the vCSA and type the command:
Command> software-packages install --iso
Type yes then press Enter to apply the upgrade.
Reboot the appliance with the command:
Command> shutdown reboot -r patching
After rebooting the appliance, the new build number is 6.0.0.10000.
The vCSA is now updated to latest release.
