To assess the health of your virtual infrastructure, Nakivo Backup & Replication offers a powerful and innovative feature called IT Monitoring.
This new feature allows the administrators to monitor from as single pane of glass the resource usage (CPU, RAM and disk) for installed hosts, VMs and datastores. This is very useful to maintain an optimal status of your virtual infrastructure.
Currently this capability is only available for VMware vSphere platform.

Configure IT Monitoring
From the Nakivo dashboard, access the IT Monitoring area and click Add Monitored Items to add the objects to monitor.
Objects can be selected through the Items or Policy option:
- Items - with this option you can select virtual machines, hosts and datastores to monitor.
- Policy - specify the criteria to filter objects to monitor.
Choose the desired option (Items in the example) and select objects to monitor.
Virtual machines, hosts and datastores can be selected for monitoring. Click Save to save the selection.
Once the IT Monitoring configuration has been saved, the system starts gathering the information.
Check results
Give some time to the system (at least one hour) before analyzing collected data.
Metrics
Go to Metrics area to review the results.
Virtual Machines
Select the VM you want to analyze, and review the available metrics: CPU Load, Memory Load, and Disk Usage.
Hosts
This is perhaps the most important view for maintaining a healthy infrastructure, as it helps avoid resource contention and provides early insights into whether new hardware needs to be deployed to meet resource demands.
Datastores
Select the datastore to analyze and review the Disk Usage metrics.
Alerts
If any alerts are detected by the IT Monitoring feature, they will be displayed in this section.
Reports
Go to Reports area and click the + symbol then select Report.
From the Source drop-down menu, select the source for which you want to generate a report.
Select the objects to include in the report and click Next.
Select the Date range and click Next
Enter the Name for the report and a Description. The generated report can also be sent via email to up to 100 email addresses.
In few seconds the report is created.
Select the report to display the content.
Here’s another example of a report.
Introduced in Nakivo Backup & Replication starting with version 10.5, the IT Monitoring feature is an essential tool for maintaining control over your infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance, and maximizing resource efficiency.
