
Vembu BDR Suite is a Backup and Disaster Recovery software solution for the virtualized data centers and supports VMware and Hyper-V platforms.
Based on snapshots technology, Vembu can be deployed in Windows or Linux platforms or as a virtual appliance for both VMware or Hyper-V environments. Backups can be saved offsite, cloud, on-premise and hybrid cloud.

Vembu BDR Suite supports the following environments:

Vembu BDR Suite can be used to protect virtualized data centers or simple IT environments in small and medium businesses, including Service Providers that offer offsite backup services to small businesses.
Vembu BDR suite includes:
Vembu VMBackup
Provides protection for VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V environments by taking the snapshots of the VM images at the host level. Supports Application-aware image backup processing to ensure application consistency and no agents are installed on virtual machines.
Vembu uses VMware CBT technology (VMs with hardware version 7 and later) to improve VMware backups speed by reducing workload and time taken for job completion. A proprietary CBT driver is used in Hyper-V to track changed blocks during the incremental backup instead. Backup copies can be sent offsite or to Vembu Cloud for data redundancy and disaster recovery.
Vembu ImageBackup
It's a BDR solution for Windows Servers, Desktops and Laptops. You can perform a Bare-metal Recovery into the same or different Windows machine hardware.
It supports also P2V to migrate Windows machines from physical environment to virtual.
Vembu NetworkBackup
Designed for small medium businesses, this application offers an Hybrid backup solution (On-Premise with optional cloud storage) for desktops/laptops, file servers, applications like Microsoft Exchange, SQL Server, Sharepoint, Active Directory and Outlook. Systems can be backed up to a central location making the administration easier.
Vembu OnlineBackup
It allows to backing up business critical data into Vembu's cloud. This cloud solution can protect File Server Backups, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and Outlook Backups.
Vembu SaaSBackup
It's a backup solution for Microsoft Office 365 and Google Apps and it has been designed to backup emails, drives, contacts and calendar. The backup data will be sent to the Vembu Cloud storage over secured network.
Pricing
Vembu license is based on number of CPU sockets and includes unlimited product upgrade and 24/7 email and telephone support. Every year the license has to be renewed.

Install Vembu BDR
To proceed with the installation of the product, download Vembu BDR from Vembu website and run the installer. When the installation wizard starts, click Next to continue.
Accept the EULA then click Next.
Select Let me customize the configurations option and click Customize.
Specify the Installation Location and DB Storage Location then click Next.
Leave default installation folder and click Next.
Select Choose network drive as your Storage Repository option and click Next.
Specify User Name and Password to access the web console and click Next to continue.
Click Install to proceed with the installation.
The application is being installed.
When the installation has been completed successfully, leave both options enabled and click Finish.
Access the web console
To access Vembu's web console, open your preferred browser and type the address https://IPAddress_DNSName:6061. Enter the credentials previously specified and click Sign in.
Select the desired Time Zone and click Save.
Enter a unique name (i.e. machine name) in Enter a Vembu BDR ID field then click Update.
Configure the Storage Repository
First time you access the Vembu Dashboard, you have to configure the storage devices. Click Add Network Drive button to add the devices used to store the backups.
Vembu supports different storage media such as Local drives, NAS (NFS and CiFS) and SAN (iSCSI and FC). In the Management > Storage Management section, enter the parameters in the required fields and click Save.
The drive has been added successfully.
Go to the Dashboard to check the global status of the system. Since no backups have been configured yet, no data are displayed except the storage devices.
Vembu installation is now complete. Part 2 will cover the configuration of the backup and restore jobs.
