Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 is a new product of Veeam family that allows the administrators to save 365 mailboxes to local storage devices.
Currently available in beta version only, the new product offers a better capability to backup and restore mailboxes and is very similar to Veeam Explorer for Exchange available in Veeam Backup and Replication suite.
Features
Two packages are required to manage the backups: Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 and Veeam Explorer for Exchange.
Two versions are available:
- integrated in the existing Veeam infrastructure - standard repository are used to store the backups
- as stand-alone - local folders are used to store the backups
The backup can protect every object in the mailbox (attachments, calendars, contacts, etc) and shared mailboxes as well.
A Veeam Proxy is not required because it connects directly to the Microsoft tenant and after the first full backup, next backups copy only the changes in the mailboxes since the forever incremental mode is used. Currently encryption is not supported.
