Install VM Explorer
From Trilead web site download latest release of VM Explorer then run the installer. Click Next to continue.
Accept the EULA by flagging the I accept the terms in the License Agreement option then click Next.
Leave default installation folder then click Next.
Click Install to start the installation.
Trilead VM Explorer 6.0 is being installed.
Flag Launch VMX now option then click Finish.
When the Starter opens, select Web Interface option.
Setup Web Server
In the configuration window, enter the Hostname or IP and Enable https option. You can Browse for an existing SSL certificates or generate a new one. Click New to generate a new certificate.
The application generates a self-signed certificates to be installed on the local machine. Click OK to proceed.
The new certificate has been created and installed on the local machine. Click OK to continue.
Click on Trilead VM Explorer HTTPS Certificate to see the details. Flag Enable automatic redirect from http port 80 to https option to establish a secure communication with the server and enable Start Web Server Automatically option as well. Click Start button to start the Web Server.
The Web Server has been started. Click OK to continue.
In the Running on field is displayed the Web Server address. Since the admin password hasn't been set yet, enter the New Administrator password then click Change password.
The new password has been updated. Click OK to continue.
Click Start and Save to save the configuration and start the Web Console.
A new feature of VM Explorer 6.0 is the localization of the web interface in three languages. From the menu select the preferred language.
Click Save to set the language of the web interface.
Enter admin credentials then click Login.
Add license
First step to do after accessing the Web Console is the installation of the license. Click on Install License button.
In the License Manager tab, paste the license received from Trilead then click Activate New License. Trilead VM Explorer 6.0 is available also as 10-day trial.
Click OK to continue.
Under the Current License section you can see the license edition installed.
Configure email notifications
Select E-Mail Default Settings tab to configure the email parameters to receive application alerts. Click Save when completed.
Configure Active Directory
To grant AD users permissions to manage VM Explorer, select Active Directory tab and click Add to connect the Active Directory in use.
Enter the Domain Name and the Domain Controller then click Test Connection to verify the specified parameters.
Type the Domain Administrator credentials and click OK.
If the test completed successfully click OK.
Click Add to add the tested Domain Name.
The Active Directory domain is now displayed in the list.
Select the Users tab and click Add Active Directory Users to access the AD users list.
Select the previously added Domain Name and click on Retrieve Users button.
Type the Domain Administrator credentials and click OK.
Select the needed Usernames then click Add.
Select the added users and assign the correct group selecting the role from the Add selected Users to Group drop down menu.
Click Add to save the selected users and groups.
In the Users tab the local and selected Active Directory users are displayed.
The Trilead VM Explorer 6.0 installation is now complete. Part 2 will cover the configuration of the virtual environment components in the application.
