During the deployment of vCenter Server Appliance 6.5, you may receive the error message "The installer is unable to connect to the vCenter Appliance Management Interface" (VAMI).
The deployment of the VCSA strongly rely on the DNS infrastructure availability and a DNS record must be entered before starting the installation process.
The problem occurs at Stage 1 of the deployment procedure and you might experience this error for two reasons:
- a missing A DNS record and DNS PTR for the VCSA
- wrong VLAN Network or IP address of the Default gateway
When the entered parameters are correct, Stage 1 of the VCSA deployment completes successfully.
Before starting the VCSA deployment, make sure you configured the DNS Server accordingly by creating the two VCSA records and specified the correct VLAN Network or entered the correct IP address of the Default gateway in the configuration during the VCSA deployment.
HI, thanks for posting this - I have this error message. I've setup a small isolated test network no internet access, no DNS server & no gateway. There is one ESX server hosting one MS Server 2012 VM and one Windows 10 computer. Is there a workaround to get the appliance installed in a test environment like this?
The deployment of the VCSA requires an available DNS infrastructure with a DNS record entered before starting the installation process as well as a correct network configuration.
Another important thing is that the system running the VCSA installer must be using the same local dns.
Hi, I'm new to the adventure and wondering if VM Network is the only adapter available and my connection to DNS requires it to utilise the Management Network Portgroup - how do I change the portgroup?
