Nakivo released Backup & Replication appliance based on QNAP NAS to create a high-performance VM backup appliance.
Installing Nakivo package on QNAP NAS, backup increase performance since the application can write directly to NAS disks bypassing the overhead of network protocols, such NFS and CIFS. VM backup and replication jobs can complete up to 1.9X faster.
With this application you can get a single QNAP NAS to manage backups without purchasing a separate backup server and a storage server. This way you save money and you can offload the virtual infrastructure from backup tasks.
This solution allows to separate backup software and backup storage from the virtualized environment ensuring you can recover your data even if some of your VMware or Hyper-V servers are down.
Install Nakivo package
There are two ways to install Nakivo Backup & Replication in QNAP NAS:
- Automatic installation
- Manual installation
Automatic installation
Login to QNAP NAS and open the AppCenter widget. Access the Backup/Sync category and after locating the Nakivo icon, click Install to proceed.
Click on Yes, I agree button to begin the installation.
The system starts the download and installation steps.
When the installation completes successfully, the new Nakivo Backup & Replication widget is displayed in the QNAP NAS' desktop.
Manual installation
From Nakivo website download the QNAP package.
Open the AppCenter widget and click on Settings icon. Click Browse to specify the installation file then click Install to proceed.
Click OK to confirm.
The application is being installed in the QNAP NAS.
