After installing Office 2010 Service Pack 2, during Internet activation process you may receive the error 0x80070190.
An unspecified error has occurred. Your request cannot be processed at this time. Please try again later. (0x80070190)
Office activation
To activate Office, open an application like Word and go to menu File > Help. Click Change Product Key to proceed.
Enter the Product Key and wait for its validation. Then click Continue.
Click Install button to start the process.
Once configuration is complete, click Close button and restart the application.
When you open the application once again, the activation wizard is shown. Click Next to Internet activate Office 2010.
During the process, suddenly an error message 0x80070190 occurs.
Fix
Close the application and open an elevated Command Prompt. Run the following command:
C:\>cscript "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /act
Now open an Office application and check the activation status. The product is now activated.
Still not clear why this error occurs but this fix worked like a charm for my clients.
