Nakivo released the new version of Nakivo Bakup & Replication 7.4, a powerful and cost effective backup solution for Hyper-V, VMware and AWS EC2 environments.
The automated VM failure introduced in version 7.4 is an interesting feature that simplifies the DR management in case of failures in the production site. The new release extends some capabilities also for Hyper-V environment allowing to Instant Recover VMs directly from backup repositories and performing Screenshot Verification to ensure backups integrity.

Instant File Recovery to source
Allows to restore accidentally deleted, modified, or corrupted files to their original location from compressed and deduplicated VM backups.
Automated VM Failover
Perhaps the most important new feature introduced in this release, in case of a disaster the VM disaster recovery process can be automated and simplified through the VM failover jobs. Network mapping and re-IP rules ensure that recovered VMs can function normally at the DR site.
Enhanced AWS EC2 Instance Backup
With version 7.4 you can now save up to 1.000 recovery points per protected EC2 instance. AWS EC2 instance backups can be left in the cloud or sent to an on-premises location.
Automated Self-Backup
Product configuration, backup jobs, inventory, and all other settings can be now backed up automatically to your backup repositories with the Self-Backup feature for a quick restore of the Nakivo VM in case of failure.
Bandwidth Throttling
Bandwidth Throttling allows to limit the speed of data transfer if your network is already loaded at the time of VM backup or replication.
Global Search
Global Search feature allows you to find a specific VM, backup, replica, job, or any other item in a large infrastructure in a matter of seconds.
Instant VM Recovery for Hyper-V
The Flash VM Boot feature has been made available also for Hyper-V to instantly boot the VMs from compressed and deduplicated backups with no need to recover the entire VM first.
Screenshot Verification for Hyper-V
Screenshot Verification feature used to verify VM backups and replicas is now available also for Hyper-V. A report is sent with screenshots of test-recovered VMs.
Log Truncation for Microsoft SQL Server 2017
The Log Truncation feature now supports Microsoft SQL Server 2017 to automatically truncate log files after a successful VM backup or replica.
Instant Object Recovery for Microsoft SQL Server 2017
With Backup & Replication 7.4 you can instantly recover Microsoft SQL objects (databases and tables) to their original location or a custom location. Useful in case of corrupted databases or undesired changes that need to be rolled back.
Built-in Chat with Technical Support

Also in this release, Nakivo made an excellent job in adding new features making this backup solution complete and a good option to consider during software selection. In addition, deploying the product as an appliance, Nakivo Backup & Replication allows the administrators to save Windows licenses.
