VMware announced vRealize Suite and vCloud Suite 7, solutions that make easier the management of a simple vSphere-based on-premises environment, a full software-defined datacenter or a complex hybrid cloud environment.
The new release brings the following updates:
- All the new capabilities for vRealize Automation, vRealize Operations and vRealize Business that were introduced in 2015 are included.
- Use vRealize Suite licenses to manage vSphere, non-vSphere hypervisor and hybrid cloud workloads with a new hybrid licensing model.
- vRealize management capabilities are aligned across vRealize Suite and vCloud Suite editions and the vRealize Suite portable licensing is included within vCloud Suite.
VMware vRealize Suite
vRealize Suite is a cloud management platform for the hybrid cloud, delivering and managing infrastructure and applications quickly while maintaining IT control.
vRealize Suite includes the following components:
- vRealize Operations 6.2: intelligent health, performance, capacity, and configuration management drives the placement and allows you to balance workloads between the clusters in your Datacenter by providing you move recommendations.
- vRealize Log Insight 3.3: real time log management and log analysis.
- vRealize Automation 7.0: automated delivery of personalized infrastructure, applications and custom IT services.
- vRealize Business for Cloud 7.0: automated costing, usage metering, and service pricing of virtualized infrastructure.
Editions
Three editions are available to meet specific technical, environmental and budgetary requirements.
- Standard: improves operational efficiency, application performance and availability via predictive analytics and smart alerts.
- Advanced: delivers IT Automation to IaaS by automating the delivery and ongoing management of IT infrastructure services.
- Enterprise: if you have DevOps initiatives and plan to automate the delivery and management of the full application stack across clouds.
VMware vCloud Suite
vCloud Suite is now a package that includes VMware vSphere Enterprise Plus hypervisor with VMware vRealize Suite. It's a good solution if you are interested in purchasing a cloud management platform solution and expanding your vSphere capacity.
vRealize Suite comes with three editions, distinguished by the vRealize Suite editions.
- Standard
- Advanced
- Enterprise
Licensing
For both vRealize Suite 7.0 and vCloud Suite 7.0 VMware introduced a new licensing metric, called a Portable License Unit (PLU).
One PLU allows vRealize Suite to manage unlimited virtual machines deployed on one on-premises vSphere CPU or up to 15 Operating System Instances (OSIs) deployed in any non-vSphere environment mentioned above, but not both at the same time.
All the components of a vRealize Suite edition are licensed as a single entity since it is intended as single solution, although the suite is made up of several components.
