Latest Nakivo Backup & Replication v10.8 provides a new feature called Job priority that allows to prioritize scheduled backups based on the level set.
Priority levels between 1 and 5 can be assigned to Backup Jobs where the value 1 gives the highest priority. Jobs configured with higher priority are prioritized by Transporters (data mover) during the backup process.
The Job priority feature is available in the following editions:
- Enterprise
- Enterprise Essentials
- Enterprise Plus
- MSP Enterprise
- MSP Enterprise Plus
Job priority: how it works
Because priority levels determine which backup process should be processed first, this provides a higher protection for critical workloads and data.
Creation of a high priority Backup Job
To test the new feature we're going to create two new Backup Jobs assigning different Job Priority Level.
From the Jobs section, click the + symbol and select VMware vSphere backup job.
Select VMs to backup and click Next.
Select the Destination to store the backup. Click Next.
Specify the backup Schedule and click Next.
Specify a Job name and set the Job priority value to 1 (high priority). Click Finish to save the job.
The created high priority Backup Job.
Creation of a low priority Backup Job
Create another Backup Job with same Schedule and set the Job priority value to 5 (low priority). Click Finish.
The created low priority Backup Job.
Run created Backup Jobs
When the scheduling time fires up the configured Backup Jobs, the Backup set with higher priority will be prioritized by the Transporter against the low priority Backup Job.
The Backup Jobs have been completed successfully and processed based on the priority level set.
With this feature you can control critical workloads and data ensuring they are processed first in case of multiple jobs with same schedule.
Nakivo Backup & Replication v10.8 can be downloaded as 15-day trial.
